Nameless There's a FB page called something like Brothers in Blue that is all about a link between our fans and Bochum. It has pics of RFC flags and fans in RFC shirts at Bochum games.
Anyone know anything ?

Couple of my m8s go over to watch Bochum 2-3 times a season and vice versa - all pretty low key stuff. Have to lol at their flags, makes out it's more than that

Was pretty surprised to see this, i lived in Germany for 5 yrs and if any team was to be affiliated with Reading you would have thought it to be Duisburg due to there near identical team strips. But Bochum do have similarities to the mighty Royals. The stadiums are fairly similar, and both fairly modern, they are both in the second tier of their respective leagues and they have a similar fan base. They had 13,500 at their home game this weekend. They may have around 15,000 fans but one thing i am sure of is that they will make more noise than the Reading fans, the German clubs and their so called Ultras usually make for pretty impressive atmospheres with plenty of flags and banners. If your unsure check out the Yellow Wall in Dortmund, 30,000 fans in one single kop, amazing to watch and they do the most amazing rendition of you'll never walk alone, a la Liverpool.

St Pauli beat Bochum in the German cup in the 05/06 season. Bochum at the time being a league above St Pauli. SP then went on to beat Hertha Berlin and Werder Bremen (both 2 leagues above them) before crashing out to Bayern in the Semi Final.

If we're going to be associated with any German club it should be Reading's twin Fortuna Dusseldorf. Have been a Bundesliga yoyo club for a few years like us although now are in danger of relegation to league 3.

Saw Fortuna Dusseldorf beat St Pauli 1-0 in a league two game a few years back . There was about 49,000 in the stadium with about 7000 from St Pauli. Game wasn't that exciting but great atmosphere. Think St Pauli went up that season.

TheRouge Can't be a real fan if you don't know and see the Bochum link. 2 or 3 times a season there are 2 coaches laid on by STAR for the Bochum fans who have come over. We've had 2 annual trips to Bochum games for Royals fans and we took 42 to the last one. A lovely ground, a great weekend and the first time I ever saw Green drink a cocktail!

As I explained at the time it was Pepe's cocktail that he'd left because he had to go and buy a packed tea and fill his thermos for the STAR coach home.

I just hate to see good booze go to waste.
