Stam was 1/14 now 1/2
Grant was 6/1 now as short as 11/8

So maybe it's Grant with Staam as Assistant Manager?

Sounds like a reasonable combination

Top two by August or sacked and out

No change on Skybet.

I wouldn't get too excited, Odds on new managers are made up by the same people that make up reality tv odds. It's nothing like the horses. They simply employ someone to make up a list from Internet forums and rumours and other bookies; as soon as there is a whisper an interview is actually taking place bets get suspended.

Although I've just stuck a fiver on both as you e mentioned it, I want this to happen now

I think it will be Grant as Dof and Zola as manager

Avram Grant is a good manager, I think, he did well at Chelsea and was unlucky to get fired, so, seeing as we're big on firing managers for being unlucky, he'd fit right in, and fit right out in 6 months.

I also think he is a good manager. Under the dour exterior is a very good man manager, a sound tactician, great experience and the sort of gravitas and experience needed to deal with the owner's advisors.

I'd be delighted if it's him.

I like Zola, it's hard not to when he comes over as such a nice guy and a great player to watch.

His record as a manager isn't the most inspiring but he did ok to start with at West Ham and got Watford to the play off final and both teams played good football IIRC.

Would be an interesting appointment.

All 3 of those sound like terrible choices ... all are big names, no achievement (apart from Parky who is in the big legend, no achievement box). So many people make the mistake of thinking a great player will make a great manager ... it's not so!

I'm still feeling p*ssed off with our Thai owners.

I thought I would have been feeling alright by now. But nothing feels right about Reading Football Club anymore. It's a strange feeling. RFC feels so wrong at the moment. This is the sickest I've ever felt about our football club. I can't see us playing in the Premier League again in my lifetime. We had our moment. Now it's gone. We are heading back to our historical norm of third tier football. Our playing budget is probably going to be very similar to that of Swindon Town and Oxford United in the next couple of years. We're just going back to where we belong. A third rate football club.

Even if the Thai owners are genuine and really do want to make RFC a success. They don't have the knowledge, experience or competence to successfully manage the football club. They are out of their depth and are making mistakes.

That's a little melodramatic TF.

Although I'd agree that there is an odd, detached, kind of feel about the place at the moment I'm not sure can be quite so dismissive of the owners abilities to make it work at the moment.

It's certainly making for a different approach to that of Madejski & Co, but it doesn't mean that it can't work. I'm in now way confident of the direction we're taking or the decisions they seem to be making though.
