Confrimmed - Rowan Liburd to Stevenage

by SCIAG » 04 Jul 2016 21:38

Rowan Liburd has today completed a permanent transfer from Reading to Sky Bet League 2 outfit Stevenage for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old moved to Madejski Stadium last year from Isthmian League outfit Billericay Town. After beginning the season in the Under-21 squad, Liburd made his first-team debut as a substitute in a 2-0 defeat at Cardiff. He went on to make two more appearances from the bench for our senior squad, against Nottingham Forest and Brentford.

Liburd joined Wycombe Wanderers on loan in March, and went on to make 4(+6) appearances for the Chairboys during the run-in of their League 2 campaign. And now he has become the Boro’s third new signing of the summer as he links up with Darren Sarll’s squad.

All at Reading would like to wish Rowan the very best of luck in his future career.

Here.

Disappointed to see him go, he was a joy to watch, but he didn't make it into the first team, he's going to be 24 soon, and he didn't do much for Wycombe.

Best of luck Rowan.

CONFIMRED - Rowan Liburd to Stevenage

Seems that Tshibola is not the only young player to be moving on. Rowan Liburd has gone to Stevenage on an undisclosed fee.

It's starting to look like the Thais were not that genuine about playing our young players. Wouldn't be surprised to see more go before the first match of the season either.

That could come back to bite us.

We could at least give him another loan and see if he can cut it?

Didn't realise he was that old. If so then fair enough for letting him go.

Hasn't exactly got the Antonio feel about it though.

Apparently this was posted at the same time as I posted it (mods you can delete or merge my thread).

Didn't realise he was that old either, though I would still have been inclined to have wanted him around - at least while we have a lack of strikers at the club (3 substitute appearances isn't exactly much of a chance to break into the team when you have several ahead of him, and he may have had more of a chance with our current lack of strikers). In my opinion, you can never have too many strikers in your squad.

RFC took a punt that hasn't paid off. No big deal. If there's another academy prospect on the way through.

You win some you lose some. Looked all at sea in his brief cameos. Good luck to him, low risk gamble that did't pay off, never mind.

Probably not seeing as he was average in League 2 last season and has gone to a very average League 2 team now

Wycombe fans seemed fairly happy with him - although they had Gozie to compare to
