Swiftly replaces Hughes on 85 minutes.

2-2 as it stands.

Adie Boothroyd, a poor club manager in charge of a international team.
Germany are light years ahead in teams of skill and and movement.

Harsh on Boothroyd. Germany's lot are far better. More experienced and developed and player for player better.

The fact we've taken it to extra time at all is something to be fairly content with imho.

Why is David Prutton the main presenter? He doesn't have the right tone at all

Yep, utterly predictable conclusion

I can barely remember an important match in my lifetime that the team i wanted to win on pens actually did so

Brazil in the last Olympics? Though admittedly it's hardly a team I support.

The only one off the top of my head I can remember is England vs Spain in Euro '96

Try and remember all important penalty shoot outs that England or Reading have been in.

Definition of important?

  1. World Cup knockout games
  2. Semi finals
  3. Finals
  4. Euro knockout games
As the previous caller stated, I can only think of Spain and Coventry as the successes too. Don't think Reading have been in very many at all i.e. only Coventry and Huddersfield - but then no doubt I'm forgetting some obvious others

England have lost at least four; Germany x 2, Portugal, Argentina

Doesn't quite fit your definition of important but the shootout win v West Ham on 9/11 was just the boost the world needed

Coventry and Huddersfield were the REALLY IMPORTANT penalty shootouts that we've been involved in.

Didn't we knock West Ham out on penalties on 9/11?
We have beaten some teams on pens in early round league cup meetings and last season in the checkatrade trophy. We have won most of the time on pens. Just the one that really mattered against Town we Ffffd it up.

throw the famous Pirlo Panenka loss into that against Italy.

I remember watching us lose a league cup tie away to Stoke on pens, Leroy Lita cleared the crossbar by 1km.

That was awful. He ran up to the ball like duck with diarrhea.

I think that was the only game I saw Dave Mooney play for us and he was stuck out on the wing.

James Henry jumped in the crowd - one of the best moments of my life, as I later told him whilst both pissed in Sakura a few years later

Scored a cracking goal in that game and took a decent penalty in the shootout as well from what I remember.
