INJURY WATCH : 2016-2017

by Sutekh » 31 Jul 2016 07:51

Looking good for the start of the season - Deniss Rakels is the only fit striker at the club currently

Samuel has a knee injury
Kermorgant has a hip injury
Mendes has another hip problem and is due for a scan early this week

McCleary is also injured (calf) and Bond is out until after the season starts.

Of this lot Kermorgant only may make the Preston game.

I think the club see him as a winger, as reported by C. Watts

Maybe we'll see Novakovic on the bench for Preston, should Kermorgant not recover in time.

We should have kept Rowan Liburd!

Tanner and Novakovich are options but not really people we could play with confidence.

He was behind Nova under Clarke and wasn't performing too well. He looked a bit better in the second half of the season (when Liburd and Samuel were out on loan) but Nova's been getting picked ahead of him in pre-season. Probably not much between them at Championship level.

Barrett's also an option but he might be a risk as a lone striker.

We might as well not play with a striker seeing's how they never get any service anyway.

We've kind of addressed that over the summer ! Expect Beerens and Swift to create much more.

We thought the same last year with John and Piazon.

Kermorgant and McCleary are both expected to now be fit for the Preston game

However Stephen Quinn now has a problem and is likely to miss the first couple of weeks of the season...

Mendes is expected back in training with the main squad late next week

Meite has more or less recovered but needs to be monitored a bit more in training to make sure he's fully ok. I presume that means he could be in the squad for the Wolves game.

Samuel has a knee problem and will be out for another 2/3 weeks

Quinn is suffering a recurrence of his knee injury from last season and is due to for precautionary scans to assess severity soon

What has Meite recovered from? He isn't injured just not match fit.

Yet another clueless fan.

According to CW, Meite rolled his ankle in training yesterday. Not too serious but wont be involved tomorrow.

Samuel due back this week.....

Well after last night's mess...

Rakels - Ankle injury, going to be x-rayed. Looks serious
Cooper - Left the ground on crutches last night apparently so has a leg injury. Awaiting diagnosis
Kelly - Cut over nose and eye, suspected concussion
Moore - Possibility may have tweaked something in his groin, hopefully will know more today
