The Arsenal match report suggests we took 7,000 to Highbury in 2005, surely our biggest ever away following?

http://www.arsenal.com/match/report/070 ... tch-report

FA rules say we're entitled to 15% of the ground (9,050), but Arsenal have been in trouble about this before after they only gave Liverpool about 5,000 for an FA Cup tie at the Emirates claiming there were 'safety issues,' so not sure if they're going to stick to the rules

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... p-tie.html

With it being half-term, and the fact this will be our first trip to a big side since (apart from Tuesday) relegation suggests we could take quite a few thousand. Obviously the sticking point will be the prices, and I can't see Arsenal reciprocating our Twenty's Plenty campaign

I think we'll initially take an allocation of 4K for this, and hopefully we will have an option on more.

6k is an awful lot of tickets for us to fulfil an away fixture, regardless of who is it.

I might actually rock up for this.

Am I wrong in thinking there is a cap on ticket prices in the early stages?

The insinuation being that we have lost every single game against them and [b]AFAIK Arsenal are the only team to have a 100% record against us.

As to questioning the validity of my claim, I'm pretty sure the only person I can think of sad and lonely enough to lie about something like that is you
I don't think Arsenal have a 100% record against us in all competitions. First of all, their 7-5 win against us needed extra time. It was level after 90 minutes.

Secondly, Didn't we beat them in the London Cup to lift the trophy? That may have been during the second world war. I'm not sure. I think we won 1-0.

The first time I watched Arsenal, it was back in 1987 at Elm Park. They had Charlie Nicholas and Martin Hayes, Perry Groves and Steve Bould, John Lukic and Kenny Sansome. They won 3-1. I want revenge on them for that.
Thirdly, we drew 1-1 in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley, losing 2-1 after extra time.

A special occasion that, it being Arsenal's last year @ Highbury.

I couldn't get a ticket to that game as they were all on general sale from day 1. I was quite unhappy with that and wrote a letter to the club with a suggestion on how to improve issuing tickets. I got a reply along the lines of based on the reaction of fans they were exploring a number of options and the season after Royalty Points were introduced.

My suggestion was something along the lines of Royalty Points, without suggesting a points based system - fans who had been to more games get priority etc but I also suggested an automated ticketing distribution machine at the ground, similar to a Cash Machine which would dispense tickets,

Arsenal team from that night - Almunia, Eboue, Larsson, Senderos, Gilbert, Muamba, Djourou, Flamini, Reyes, Owusu-Abeyie, Van Persie

A reserve team at the time, but not a bad team with what we know now.

If it's any consolation, I went with my Dad and his friend, when it had looked like Doyle had scored a header we jumped up to celebrate and my Dad's friend smacked his head on a pipe.

Arsenal do have a 100% record against us for first team games. Best we've done is to take them to extra time in a couple of cup games but we have still lost those games in playing time.

FA Cup

R5 16 Feb 1935 L 0-1 (h)
R4 05 Feb 1972 L 1-2 (h)
R3 10 Jan 1987 L 1-3 (h)
SF 18 Apr 2015 L 1-2 (n)

League Cup

R3 11 Oct 1967 L 0-1 (a)
R4 29 Nov 2005 L 0-3 (a)
R4 30 Oct 2012 L 5-7 (h)

Division One/Premier League

22 Oct 2006 L 0-4 (h)
03 Mar 2007 L 1-2 (a)
12 Nov 2007 L 1-3 (h)
19 Apr 2008 L 0-2 (a)
17 Dec 2012 L 2-5 (h)
30 Mar 2013 L 1-4 (a)

Arsenal score 4 against us in the league for every 1 we get against them

Sadly the war years don't count as first team fixtures which is a real shame as we beat them 6 times In that period :

London Cup

04 Jan 1941 W 2-0 (h)
11 Jan 1941 W 1-0 (a) (Reading went on to win the cup)

London League

29 Nov 1941 L 1-3 (a)
07 Mar 1942 L 1-4 (h)

Football League South

24 Oct 1942 L 1-4 (a)
30 Jan 1943 L 4-5 (h)
04 Nov 1944 W 3-1 (h)
31 Mar 1945 W 2-0 (a)

League Cup South

04 Mar 1943 W 3-2 (a)
25 Mar 1943 W 5-1 (h)
03 Feb 1945 L 1-3 (h)
24 Feb 1945 L 0-3 (a)

Only other game was in the Southern Professional Floodlit Cup which I don't think is classed as a first team fixture either

03 Apr 1957 W 2-1 (h)

Hardly any mention of the recent FA cup semi-final where, if not for a misplaced pass by Pogrevniac (sp) we would have beaten Arsenal.

Our under 23s beat them recently. As far as I'm concerned that's the only match that counts.

Front row of the top tier in the East stand. Best view I will ever have at a football match.

Bloke behind me had a surprising amount of hatred for Reading. He spent most of the match shouting abuse at the Clock End.

My first ever away game - also in amongst the Gooners - don't remember too much about that game, other than us losing but do remember an impressive wall of Royals fans at the away end. Seen us lose twice at the Emirates now - maybe I will give it one more shot, third time lucky perhaps :?:
