EFL Cup round 4

by George_ » 21 Sep 2016 10:58

1. Arsenal
2. Chelsea
3. Leeds United
4. Liverpool
5. Newcastle United
6. Norwich City
7. Preston North End
8. Reading
9. Fulham / Bristol City
10. Northampton Town / Manchester United
11. Queens Park Rangers / Sunderland
12. Southampton / Crystal Palace
13. Stoke City / Hull City
14. Swansea City / Manchester City
15. Tottenham Hotspur / Gillingham
16. West Ham United / Accrington Stanley

Anyone but a Championship team away. Wouldn't mind 1 of Spurs/Palace/Southampton/Chelsea away.

It'll be Preston away for you.

5 of the 8 teams through so far are from the Champo, and with one of Fulham/Bristol City through we're guaranteed at least 6 Champo sides in the last 16.

I'd be looking for one of Preston, Leeds or Fulham/Brizzle at home in the next round, yes it's not a very interesting draw but it gives us a good shot at the last 8.

Let's have West Ham. They can't defend anymore. I'm sure we can stuff them.

Team to avoid has to be Liverpool. Their high pressing game will cause absolute havoc in our defense. The score could get embarrassing. I'm not sure we would have a tactical answer to the way that they play.

We may have some idea when we take on Klopps protégé on Saturday.

I think the really crap ties would be Newcastle, Norwich, Swansea, or Stoke/Hull. Anyone else at home would be good.

West Ham usually gets the blood pumping and they'd be a beatable top flight side given their current form.

It'd be nice to play a part in Mourinho's continued descent into madness and disaster too.

I do love a Northern midweek away day but I think you've got to look at Palace/Southampton at home surely for revenge from the Cup last year - or in the case of Saints - to revive the rivalry from 2012. Both would probably fill the away end and would be quite a good atmosphere for £12

Probably West Ham/Accrington away but I'd highlight any of the championship games as a good opportunity (Newcastle aside). Leeds and Preston would be the pick I'd say.

When's the draw?
