If there is anyone that isn't aware, Bradley is a 5 year old Sunderland fan who is battling with cancer and only has 2 months left to live. I'm obviously taking the piss but it does bring me onto a slightly more serious point.

Don't get me wrong, what the poor lad and his family are going through is tragic and I can never even begin to attempt to understand, but at the end of their fundraising video they say they need £700,000 to afford treatment that MAYBE will cure what is apparently a pretty much terminal diagnosis.

I find it wholely perverted and wrong. Why is this child so special? Do you realise how many preventable deaths could be avoided if £700,000 was spent on purifying drinking water in Africa?

Will the people that spend £5 on this poor child's more than hopeless cause donate the same amount of children of Aleppo?

Hundreds of children die everyday all over the world but because the mirror published the story and he's english and it's something we can familiarise ourselves with it's obviously has a higher degree of importance....

Almost a million quid though... on one life. Wow. I'm not for one minute trying to be righteous and deciding how much a life is worth, but I just can't grasp how we deem this as acceptable. If it was my kid I'd imagine I'd trade the world for the smallest chance of their survival so I can't fault the parents efforts, I just find the whole enormity of the juxtaposition of resource allocation utterly baffling and fundamentally wrong.
