Alfie it turns out is one of the most prolific premier league strikers of all time!
Question for the stattos. Who are the most prolific Reading strikers (minutes to goal ratio) ?

Might take a while, but I'll set some benchmarks...

Dave Mooney averaged a goal every 112 minutes for Reading

Unless we want a minimum amount of goals...

I looked up a couple in the league I thought might have a decent scoring rate

Simon Church scored 21 goals at a rate of every 235 minutes
Glenn Murray scored 8 goals at a rate of every 192 minutes
Mathieu Manset scored 5 goals at a rate of every 185 minutes
Gylfi Sigurdsson scored 18 goals at a rate of every 178 minutes
Grzegorz Rasiak scored 9 goals at a rate of every 167 minutes
Adam Le Fondre scored 39 goals at a rate of every 144 minutes

Currently...
Yann Kermorgant has scored 8 goals at a rate of every 360 minutes
Dominic Samuel has scored 2 goals at a rate of every 211 minutes
Deniss Rakels has scored 3 goals at a rate of every 210 minutes

For Tim Dellor...
Matej Vydra scored 3 goals at a rate of every 701 minutes (38 goals at 141 minutes for Watford)

Ignoring the fact that prolific doesn't mean 'highest goals to game ratio'....

Samuel and Harriett must be quite high up the list....

Although just spotted Samuel isn't so high up !

Jimmy Quinnshouldmhave a good ratio, given he got 40 in one season. When calculating his goals per minute remember to exclude the games he played in goal !

Suspect David Lee may have decent figures too.

Let's add a couple of provisos to make it meaningful :

Players must have played in at least 10 games for Reading and only league games count.

The obvious runners to be top of the pile are Ron Blackman, Trevor Senior, Kerry Dixon, Jamie Cureton, Tony MacPhee, Jimmy Quinn and Jack Palethorpe ....

Trevor Morley anyone?

I think a minimum of 10 league goals seems fair? Or should it be done based purely on minutes played?

Would have loved to have had both him and Kitson playing together, what a partnership that would have been.

"Prolific" isn't really the best stat to use.

Jamie Cureton and Adam Le Fondre were the most natural goalscorers I think I've ever seen in a Reading shirt..... partly because they did little else, but also because that's exactly what was asked of them.

I think the quality of opposition should be a factor, If we hadn't gained promotion to the premier league and Le Fondre was still with us I reckon he would have scored more goals against championship sides than against premiership sides.

And to cap it all, because of the utter nob way Reading pay no respect whatsoever to the opposition before a game Reading fans can't give a proper show of appreciation when Bolton visit and the team line up's should be read out.

Mind you that visit could be well weird anyway with more support being given for Le Fondre, Karacan and Parkinson than the current Reading team

In the BBC1 tea time quiz programme, Pointless, there is an episode where to win the jackpot the contestants had to name anyone who had scored 10 goals or more in a Premier League season; Adam Le Fondre was a Pointless answer.............
