I think we can be reasonably positive that the Premier League DO give a f#^* about any team that can draw in 30k + spectators for home games and a global TV audience of millions.
So you are correct they could not give a f#^* about Reading.

Top Flight If the Premier League block the takeover would we see that as a good thing or a bad thing?

If they block it, it is because they must think these Chineses buyers are just Zingarevich in disguise. They might run our great club into the ground. The Premier League might be doing us a favour by blocking the deal. It's a good job they are there doing the due dilligence. The Thai's don't really give a sh*t. They just want their money and then they're out.

In the short term it might look like we are missing out on Thiago and anyone else that Stam had lined up for the window. We might also lose Stam himself as a result. But in the long run we might be better off for it. The Premier League are cautious. They don't want to lose a famous old football club in Reading. The demise of Reading would be a great tragedy for English football. Do the Chinese really have the money? Do they really intend to blow their money on our club?

Someone correct me if im wrong, but the fit and proper persons test has oxf*rd all to do with whether they are going to run the club properly. Its more to do with if they got their money through ill-gotten gains

Ill-gotten gains? Like doing time for selling drugs to kids and damaging the community?

I think it was mentioned on another thread, but realistically at some point you would expect someone moneyed to come in and take over - very surprised it hasn't happened already

Reading would be a perfect location for an international consortium, probably very cheap to buy compared to a london club and lots of potential to expand the fanbase

If it isn't this consortium, I'm sure another will be along in the near future. So to be honest, if this lot have the money, then id rather it go through and not risk losing out on Stam etc

The PL didn't block Anton, they had no reason to block Anton once his old man backed the deal.
The PL aren't really doing due diligence.
The Thai's clearly do 'give a sh*t' and 2 of them intend staying.
Do the Chinese have the money ? Seems pretty obvious that billionaire brother and sister have some cash. Will they blow it on our club ? No. why would they ? But if they buy the club they will at least do what SJM did and keep the club afloat.
Would we be better off if the deal was blocked ? Depends who the next potential buyer is.

It would be a bad thing, and we'd be in administration by the end of Feb.

Any news on the deal?

Surely the JS timebomb has well and truly started ticking now.

If there was any news I suspect it would be widely discussed M

As long as Jaap is being kept in the loop then really that is key. If the Thai's didn't react to his recent comments then that would be worrying but Tiger and Tevernden seem pretty sensible guys and I can't see them risking losing Jaap if they gave any control over circumstances.

So do we even know if he is training with us at the moment, back at Liverpool or is just stuck at the hotel in some form of transfer purgatory?

If he's not signed then I doubt he's training with us. If he got injured it would be a very tricky situation !
All depends on whether there is a deal agreed but put on hold by mutual agreement or if it is just dead.

True. It's the silence from all parties that is weird though. If it had fallen through, you would expect Liverpool to have said he is back with the squad and training but remains available (or something like that). Makes me think it is still on but something is not quite right.

We've exchanged contracts but not yet completed type situation !
I suspect the deal is still on, maybe with an agreed date by which we must complete it or withdraw. I would have thought that would be a date which still gives him a chance to sign for someone else - so perhaps the end of this week ?
If the player is happy, Liverpool are happy and we are happy we will be able to go ahead once the Chinese get the rubber stamp there's no pressure to either announce it or scrap it (assuming we're thinking longer term than just having someone to play against Derby !)

I really hope someone comes in and takes him from under our noses. Mainly because he'll be a big waste of fcuking money and will simply not be good enough but also for the lolorotfllolzocaust on here.

Not surprising that he's not being linked elsewhere.

Correct. Almost none of them are relevant, though.
