Nuremberg Royal So now onto Derby and Fulham. I'd love to think we could get something out of these games and a few weeks back I'd have been a lot more certain of at least a couple of points......but the last few games along with the ownership issue have put a major dent in what was a pleasantly surprised resurgence of gentle optimism.
Reading and Jaap Stam had forced me to sit up and take a more serious look at the progress of RFC although I was always concerned that we did not come out of most games with too many compliments for our flowing football.
Perhaps I'm old fashioned but sometimes I have enjoyed a glorious defeat far more than a slightly turgid 1-0 victory having grown up with the Mark McGhee / Reading football approach and fond memories of playing our 'first season after promotion' opener many moons ago at Molineux...losing,but winning many admirers in the process
Throw in that ex players may come back to haunt us yet again with the next 2 games and I'm feeling like only Norwich will sink faster than us....where are those rose tinted glasses when you need them.?
I am comforted by the fact that a lot of folks ( me included) would have been happy with a bottom half finish to the season and some progress....Ah perspective !
