Interesting that you won't answer the question.

So they didn't. Teams lose football matches.

Yes. Yes they do lose. But as we saw with the Spurs/Chelsea game, Chelsea's system didn't work against Spurs did it? Whether it was the players not performing as well or Spurs playing in a way to nullify Chelsea, or a bit of both. Either way Chelsea's system didn't work. It's never black or white in football (A phrase you've used before).

Ian says it's either 'the system not working or the players being out of form/injuries'. He was implying both couldn't be to blame. It's either one or the other.

I don't think he meant that as a blanket st8ment. Just in the case of this particular match, it was more down to team selection than tactics. For example, JVDB looks uncomfortable when at CB, but Stam put him there anyway. Kermorgant missed two golden chances which Stam can't legisl8 for.

Like you said - it's never black and white.

Fulham away was an example of the system not working - like the Chelsea/Spurs match. They got their tactics spot on.

Fulham away was the one game Liam Moore had to miss due to suspension and we immediately got hit for five. We also had Kermorgant out and Swift out.

I think Fulham away was also down to selection issues and the players not adapting well when key players are missing. Moore was a big miss at the Cottage.

This is why we probably need a natural centre back in Tiago. Our squad needs more depth so we can cope with changes.

Overall our system has worked pretty well this season to be fair. There is no doubt that Stam is doing a fine job. He knows what our weaknesses are and he continues to seek solutions. He just needs the support and backing. No one can argue that he is not doing a good job.

Does he lack it or does he choose to discard it when hes backed himself into a corner in an argument?
