The problem with Stam's style, is that when a team make a conscious decision to press high and hard, all of your creative pressure and need for tight passing skill and comfort on the ball is placed on your deepest players, who are often least comfortable on the ball. Which the chance of mistake is increased, the consequence of a mistake is far more calamitous and the likelihood of a creative pass to open something up is significantly reduced.

We've barely been in Brighton's half. Williams is in a pocket on his own with Mutch nowhere and Evans deep, I've hardly seen Beerens.

Sometimes we just need to stop the plan, go long routinely for a while, wait for the high press to drop off a bit and then revert. Particularly from goalkicks.

Look up ffs Beerens you twat.

What the oxf*rd was Beerens doing? Cut back to no one on the edge of Brighton's area and they quickly break and hit the post.

The problem with our game so far. On a rare foray into Brighton's final third, everyone got a rush of blood to the head and charged into the box, with no one offering on the edge and protecting the break.

Obviously Beeren has to look before playing the pass, but there really really should have been someone there.

On Target :)

And another. We're on fire.

Both pretty tame and straight at the keeper.

We just look very scared and uncertain.

The top three are just too much for us.

I think we're missing Kelly. I don't even know where Mutch thinks he's playing and Williams has never been one for crafting a move and interplay, which is what we need with this game plan.
