Sky Sports is showing what I imagine is the full transcript - and yeah it's poorly reported in GR (surprise)

it's pretty honest and not really saying a great deal. Clearly far more focussed on the tie than his own future at this point in time

Top Flight
TFF
windermereROYAL Wasnt there a talk sport presenter who said Norwich should wait till the end of season and look at our ownership situation and make a move for Stam?
Well seeing they still havent appointed a new manager yet maybe they are taking his advise.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39855621

Norwich City's next head coach will come from a shortlist of managers currently in jobs, sporting director Stuart Webber has said.

Webber, who arrived from Huddersfield in April, is heading up the search for a permanent replacement for Alex Neil.

"We have a list of candidates, and once their seasons are finished, we can start to accelerate that process," Webber told BBC Radio Norfolk.

It would be a blow to lose Stam to someone like Norwich. I hope he wouldn't make that move.

Jaap has said that his family are happy in the Reading area and like everyone around the club. That seemed important to him. Why would they want to move the land of the carrot crunchers (unless they are missing flat landscapes punctuated by water channels!)?

Jaap Stam is only going to leave us for one of the biggest clubs in England.

Expect him to be Brighton manager within a couple of years.

Was a fairly interesting article on Ajax in the Guardian today - obviously they have had a pretty good season likely getting to the UEFA final etc

Did mention Stam in it, but sounds like they have a decent set up there and have Stam a good grounding for this role

willrfc Always thought Stam will just be using us as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. He is clearly an excellent manager who plays football the right way, l

Chortle.

Just goes to show how short some people's memories are.

It's all "oh thanks Stam... you're amazing ... I was worried when Brian went but you're the man".

Now 14 games in and people want the guy sacked. That is after 1 year and 126 days in charge.

Top Flight Credit also due to the owners. The appointment of Stam was a master stroke and just the tonic the club needed.

With so many players demotivated and seemingly unhappy with life and the direction their careers were going Stam was a real breath of fresh air. His footballing ideas and winning mentality gave the squad a new lease of life and renewed focus.

Well done the Thai owners. You learned fast. Sad to see you go now.

One final one ... amongst many others I'm sure.

I'm on my phone unable to sleep so looking through old posts

EDIT: just to say that Top flight is still supportive of JS. I'm quoting this only because it seems the general memory of fans is stupidly short

It's funny how being unremittingly shit with no hope of improvement after a third of the season people are getting really quite worried.

We beat Leeds just a couple of games back. Things will turn around and we will win more often.

People are just over reacting

To an extent yes. But lose tomorrow and that’s 1 point out of 5 games at home. We’re not creating chances and we concede every game

Stam has largely got us into this mess and he has a limited period to pull us out of it before the owners (and remember Gourlay seems to run the show and Stam isn’t ‘his man’) pull the plug

That's only 1 win in 8 too if that happens or 5 points from 24. Most managers would lose their job with a run like that these days

But how long do you let it go on for? One win since the end of August is not good enough with the standard of player in the squad. Performances in every game, bar Leeds, have been woeful and you can't keep harking back to the fact a performance 2/3/4/5 games ago was really good so turning the corner can't be far away..

People are right to be very concerned about the situation which, let's face it, is very likely to have scuppered any chances of promotion this season without some incredible turn around in form and fortune.

Sensibly the board should be checking their options and deciding how much more time they're willing to give. They also need to consider that it could take a while to appoint a new manager and that ideally the new guy would need a month or so to assess the state of the squad before the transfer window reopens in January.

Sad though it is, managers (particularly inexperienced ones) are only seen to be as good as their last few games dictate and generally Stam's is almost as bad as you could get.

Not anymore. I've finally had enough. It's the performances that concern me more than the results. I don't boo the players because I have trouble staying awake during a Reading match. It has become so excruciatingly boring. If the club want to go down the route of boring football on the pitch then they should invest in the entertainment off the pitch and build us several pubs around the ground and make it easy and cheap to park around the Mad Stad. The way things are going right now we will be losing fans in their droves. RFC has nothing to offer us anymore in terms of Saturday afternoon entertainment and socialising.

Stam is a dead man walking, the fans do not like the style of football even three wins on the bounce would not change that. He has no choice but to go.

Who does like this style? Certainly not the players

People suggest this is a Dutch style or European. It isn’t. This is Stam’s own interpretation and it’s currently awful

Played properly and at pace (believe it or not, the team have done this on occasions, even this season) this style can be very entertaining and exciting. As Glenn Little said: 'Steve Coppell would describe this as 'good football played badly''

The Villa game seems a long time ago now.

Three straight league wins and he's safe.
It would surely mean something had changed for the positive in terms of application, selection or tactics to make that happen.

Most fans would accept the tactics if we won most games ... it's the combination of losing and watching such a boring style that's untenable.
