It was 20 Years ago today FSB bought his team to play

It's games like this that make all the years of suffer and hurt worthwhile. I remember the southbank was rammed that day. When Archie scored the 2nd I ended up 10 rows further forward than where I was standing!

I remember that game. The end was incredible. We just went absolutely mental. When Archie equalised we were just happy to deny the FSB from beating us. But moments later when he scored the winner the whole place just went nuts. That was probably the best finish to a game I have ever experienced. It was more dramatic than the Wigan play off semi final ending.

Absolutely incredible that game. I remember being apoplectic with rage at their goal. We always stood at that end of the South Bank so it was clear as day to me and my chums that Wolves had scored by basically two of their players bundling Bibbo over into the net and blocking our defence for someone else to nod in a free header to an open goal. Blatant foul.

And then the exultation at those two late strikes from Archie. I don't think I've ever felt anything like it. Fires the blood just thinking about it.

Thinking back, I'm actually a little surprised there weren't any deaths by heart attack in the stands, at least none got reported. I don't know how a dickie ticker could cope with that.

Gilkes going to Wolves was bizarrely more of a kick in the balls to me than Ady, Scotty Taylor, and Simon Osborn going. Probably as I had grown up on the South Bank and watching Gilksie tearing some third division full backs a new arsehole on one of his "on it" days made up for watching some mainly crap football at times.

Scott Taylor went to Leicester. Osborn ended up at Wolves after leaving us for QPR.

Maybe I should've been more specific, but I just meant seeing former players of that successful period in the mid 90s ending up at Wolves, whether directly transferred to them or indirectly ending up with them.

Yes some deal that was, Meaker for Osborn.

Definitely the most mental I've ever gone at a football match. Beats the Wigan play-off and even the Plymouth comeback. As IR says, it warms the cockles of my heart even two decades on. Utterly cathartic experience for those of us lucky enough to be there.

Wasn't there another comeback against FSB where Parkinson absolutely blasted it from outside the area in jury time and it went in right under the bar? Some of these details may have been imagined but it was definitely at Elm Park.

Yeah, 4-2 in the League Cup, Adie scored an own goal for us and then gave a cheeky wave to the South Bank when we asked him the score. Michael Meaker's finest hour.

There was also the 3-0 with that Quinn goal.

Don't think there's anything for the League Cup game.

my favourite Reading goal - equal with Ulysses de la cruz's v Colin's sheff u.
Parkie won the ball in midfield & strolled forward. Ray houghton enters the scene with an I'll have that before your nose bleeds. Parkie strong-armed him out of the way before belting it into the top corner. Magic
