Hound I think we underestimate how good the side is at times. Those 2 results against villa and Sheff Weds are pretty special in the circumstances

Would think we should beat Rotherham on Monday and that really should be that.

Should be enough but 2 wins guarantees it due to Weds v Fulham on last day.

2 wins gets us to 82. Fulham win all 4 they go to 82 but Weds can then only get 81.

IceIceGylfi Lol at his wiki: "Joseph Mendes (born March 30, 1991 in Évreux) is a French footballer who currently plays for Reading. Known for his pace, his destructive shooting ability and his massive bulge, he can play in a variety of positions including striker, out wide, or doggy style."

Having seen the interview that the club did with him and Meite, it wouldn't surprise me if either he or Meite added that bit! They both came across as enjoying a laugh and a good bit of mickey taking.

From the Beeb:

All the stats pre kick-off pointed towards a home win, but Reading were the team with something to play for and it showed.

The Royals were in cruise control at times, such was their dominance, and they're now closing in on that play-off spot.

And Mick Gooding:

"It was as comfortable as Reading's manager could've hoped. Grabban worked his socks off and I'm well pleased for him to get his first goal."

Sutekh
Jackson Corner Brilliant 7-1 then our first ever win at Villa park amazing

Just goes to show how utterly unpredictable and weird Reading are away from home this season. Villa have a superb squad of talent and will certainly be challenging for automatic next season yet Reading have turned up with a very different starting XI and seem to have caught them out. But last week they went to a similar club with a similarly talented squad and were done 7-1 !!

Crazy game this football lark.... Rotherham to continue their unbeaten run anyone?

That's what was supposed to happen this season. Every summer the consensus is that the 3 "massive" relegated clubs are going to wipe the floor with minnows like Huddersfield. The fact is most of these people seriously under estimate the standard required to get out of this division and over estimate the quality of the relegated teams.

Joseph Mendes (born March 30, 1991 in Évreux) is a French footballer who currently plays for Reading. In 2017 he recieved a special knighthood from King Ian Royal I infront of 30,000 people at Villa Park. He has been described as the best thing to come out of France since L’Amour Toujours by Gigi D'Agostino. The Man. The Myth. The Mendes. The MOAB (Mother of all Berkshire)

I'll be the first but most certainly not the last to say...I didn't see that coming

Can't wait for the BFTG thread. Love to know how poppa did. Kudos to Stam he made changes and wether enforced or not, they clearly made the difference.

I'm ashamed to admit I didn't listen and just set live score updates on my phone.
Apologies to anybody in Sainsbury's fleet who happened to overhear me swearing briefly and fist pumping my way along the dairy isle

I'm not as surprised about Mendes as most on here. Cast ur collective minds back to the stinking hot pre-season loss at AFC Wimbledon. I believe that was his first game for us. He was like a rabid dog on a leash but showed serious promise with pace that day. Why we've seen so little of him who knows but met him after the game briefly and he gave his cap to a young Reading fan and seemed very happy to be with us. I'm delighted for him and hope there's more to come.

URRRRRzzzzz

Ooof, just watched the Sky highlights. Villa were a whisker away with some very good chances.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but in defence of Mendes and Grabban's misses, both were quite tricky... the keeper did very well to narrow Mendes' options in particular. Some of those balls from Grabban... sublime. Absolute peaches. Good penalty too.

windermereROYAL So why the f**ck didn`t we (and villa) ask for Mondays games to be moved to Tuesday?

Apparently we did and it was refused. Look they're professional footballers so they should be capable of playing twice in 48 hours

Funny enough, I have a really good feeling about this game despite Villa being in excellent form. We bounce back well after losing heavily although it will be tough and definitely cant see us keeping a clean sheet. I will go for a shock 3-1 win

Ha ha ha said we'd get thrashed last week. Got it right again. ;)

...not sure who Jaap will start with up-front...but Josef will feature at some stage.

Expect Rov'rum to be tougher opposition than Villa on Monday (no seriously)

Great to see (hear) Lewis finally played in one of his favoured positions...and of course his best performance for us came on the back of it.

Cracking work Jaap
