Meeting the Players

by M U R T Y » 13 Apr 2017 22:35

Quick question - Taking my 7 year old son to the Rotherham game on his birthday - what's the best chance of meeting one / some of the players? What time do they arrive at the ground?

This should be easily addressed.

Players are generally good at stopping at the entrance to the stadium to meet/sign things for fans. The only time I've done that is at MK away about two seasons away when by pure chance I drove there and was early.

I think from memory I was around one hour (literally 60 minutes) early.

There's not many people for Reading, about half the players walked past but half the players including McDermott stopped and had a photograph.

Just head to the "players entrance" area - easy. Wear a shirt, wave a RFC flag etc...

Thanks Bobby - so if we "loiter" around 1:30 we may spot a few?

yes, sounds a bit right - I think they generally arrive between 1.30 and 1.45ish. They're definitely all in before the team is announced, and that's an hour before kick-off..

There's always pics on getReading of them posing with fans before the game, so just a case of being in the right place at the right time

This reminds me of my lad meeting the team after the pre-season friendly V AFC in July.
He told Stephen Quinn he was his favourite player and Quinny responded in kind by posing for pics / signing his top etc. An AFC fan piped up 'alright Stephen did u enjoy ur two minutes at the euro's?

To which quinny responded 'two minutes more than you'all ever get tubby'

The AFC fans around him just burst out laughing !
