Calling all stattos

by Silver Fox » 23 Apr 2017 21:20

Watching el clasico on the telly tonight the commentator mentioned that Madrid have had 19 different goal scorers this season and 1 more would give them sole possession of the la liga record. Why's this on the team board you cry? Well, I heard last week that we have 18 scorers ourselves this year (NB, I got this from BBCRB so it may well be incorrect) and I was wondering if anyone (cough, strap) knew if this was either a record for us as a club or even a league high. Please fill your boots

I'm sure in our record breaking season every outfield player scored who played that season? Which must be more then 19 (i hope)

It wasn't every outfield player, it was every regular outfield player.

Murty, Shorey, Ingimarsson, Sonko, Sidwell, Harper, Gunnarsson, Little, Convey, SHunt, Oster, Lita, Kitson, Doyle, Long.

Which would be 15. I don't think Makin (maybe though) or Baradji scored. I'm not positive Obinna got a league appearance and I don't think he scored in any case. I vaguely remember an appearance from Dean Gordon was it? Pretty sure he didn't score. Couple of the youth players may have got run outs, but I don't remember who or them scoring - Cox maybe?

Checked - forgot Halls.

If it's only regular starters, isn't Blackett the only one who hasn't scored a league goal this season?

All outfield players have scored for Reading this season except Tyler Blackett.

League wise though both Tyler and Joey van den Berg are yet to score.

Since 95/96 the average amount of goals conceded for a promoted team is 50.

The highest in that period is Crystal Palace who went up through the playoffs finishing the regular season with 62 goals against.

Our current goals against column... 62.

Likely that we will beat that record if we go up then.

Out of the 63 promoted teams in that time only 4 have gone up with more than 60 goals against.

If we do go up then surely we will be the team who has gone up with the worst GD ever.

If Kermorgant bags another 4 goals he's on 20 for this season, which is remarkable for a 35 year old in the second tier. More than possible with potentially 5 games left.

We don't have that many strikers who've hit 20 in recent memory have we? Long, Cureton, Butler... don't think Forster ever did. Doyle, Kitson and Sigurdsson all got close

Depends if you count cup goals. If you do I think Sig got there.... maybe Kits once as well.

Caskey and Morley both made it - though not exactly recent.
