Wigan (H) - Predictions

by CountryRoyal » 25 Apr 2017 16:54

Final home game of the season and an opportunity to simultaneously confirm our spot in the playoffs and relegate Wigan back to League One. Hopefully Forrest was a bit of a wake up call seeing how hard it can be to get a result against a team fighting for their lives. That being said, realistically, Wigan are dead and buried, and I think most of them will know that.

Don't expect a particularly good performance but hopefully will do enough to get the win.

2-1 but hoping we don't concede first again, Rotherham wasn't fun.

Also can people please not pitch invade if we do win? There's a time and a place. It's just a bit tragic to do it celebrating a play off spot.

Wigan go down if they fail to beat us, considering it's the final home game of the season and the players will want to go into the play-offs on good form, I think they'll win comfortably, as unlike Rotherham, they've had plenty of recovery.

3-0

We should win but our recent home record against the Latics is poor losing our last 3 at home against them.

Predict a fairly tight game and grind out a 3-1 victory

Kermie, Grabban and McCleary to score

A fairly routine 2-0 win.

As Wigan have to win they will have to go for it and will have to take chances and play quite open not parking the bus, so we should be able to pick them off.

Wigan have been a bogey team in years gone bye. Be nice to send them packing to league one. 1-1

That is true although, if they do score first, we can expect them to park the bus. They have a better GD than Birmingham so just need to hang on for the 3 points!

Bad feeling.

Expected to win + Bogey team + Last home match + "We always bounce back" + "We only need a point for playoffs"
= 0-2 defeat

It happens. 0-2 Watford 2007, 2-3 Sheff Utd 2011.

This is the type of game that haunts us loyal long suffering fans, however, I feel our inconsitancy will work for us and we'll win 2-1, with Wigan scoring first as often happens

I wonder if there is a group of fans for any other team who are in the PO positions that are constantly so pessimistic about the team's chances :)

I think we'll win this fairly comfortably. Wigan have to come out at us, but I reckon we'll go one up - and then we'll pick them off as they take too many risks. Going for 3-0

No mater how much the naysayers go on our home form is excellent and I fully expect us to win this comfortably
