work out how many players had previous experience
of playing at playoff finals and whether this is a good
classifier for success first

5 of our current squad were in the FA cup semi squad. I doubt Huddersfield have anyone who has played there for them.

Al Habsi, McShane and Quinn have all played in an FA Cup final.

Obviously, Obita, Gunter, Williams and McCleary all played in the cup semi.

Gunter has also played in a European Championship semi final.

That's off the top of my head.

Kelly was on the bench for the semi.
Obviously people like Blackett, Moore, Popa, Beerens have played in top tier leagues for some pretty big clubs and also some of them have played Champions League.

Looks like Kermogant is our weak link !

Although it's all experience. Probably those games were important learning lessons for Jaap more than the players. He really got it wrong tactically in both, yet come the playoff semis (cup style games rather than league) he got it spot on.

Liam Kelly? I really don't think so. Not unless he's shrunk 15cm, lost 10 years in age and changed his name from Stephen.

Just had a look, I don't think any of Huddersfield's current squad played for them at Wembley in 2012.

Dean Whitehead played 28 minutes in Stoke city's 2011 FA Cup final defeat to Man City, and 45 minutes in Middlesbroughs 2015 play off final defeat to Norwich.

Nahki Wells played 85 minutes in Bradford City's 2013 league two playoff final victory against Northampton town.

Stuart Hogg played the whole game in Watford's 2013 playoff final defeat to Crystal Palace.

Mark Hudson played the whole game in Cardiff's 2010 playoff final defeat to Blackpool.

I'm pretty sure that's it, how relevant it is though - god knows.

BBC team line up has Kelly on the bench.
I'm assuming any relevant experience will be passed on genetically....
I know it's only 2 years ago but which Kelly would it have been ?

Your crafty edit throws the discussion off a bit !
I have absolutely no recollection of Stephen Kelly . Bizarre.

RB who was frequently preferred to Chris Gunter in the premier league.

God that's a depressing thought, that team was awful.

Just generally as a human being. Although it's more likely I would have encountered him in an RFC context than any other I suppose.

Pretty sure he also played in the League Cup final against Swansea.

46 games he played for us ! And I'd have seen a large chunk of them. Did he play in a balaclava or something ?
