One from the 80s, Nigel Vaughan. True, in his final game he did score a bullet header to win the game, but he looked as stunned as everyone else.

Keith Knight. Signed from Cheltenham. Looked a reasonable winger, then just vanished. Possibly kidnapped by aliens.

Platypuss
Maguire
Forbury Lion Kevin Lisbie - IIRC, joined on loan in the Pardew era then got injured and went back to Charlton.

I'm struggling to remember all Tommy Burns magnificent 7 - what a deadline day that was.

McIntyre
Fleck
Brayson
Crawford
Howie
Gray

I forget the last one.

The good(ish) one - Grant Brebner. Scored first MadStad goal.

Nope, he never played at Elm Park. The Luton game was his debut.

Yeah, you're right - it was the defender on loan from Newcastle.

EDIT: Kelly.

From Despair To Where? Interestingly *, that's not an anagram of "Not Romario".

Anyway, I did one of those Sporcle quizzes where you had to name Reading players from the last 5 years and I genuinely had no recollection of Matt Connolly ever playing for us.

Remember him being quietly decent. Won the Championship three years in a row with QPR, Reading & then Cardiff.

+1 Matt Connolly was class for us in his brief appearances before injury.

Anybody Remember Steve Archibald's one game for the club? He sort of scored. His shot was going in, only for Trevor Senior to poke it in from about a foot out.

Paul Franklin's career at Reading won't be remembered fondly by many.

Aaron Giamattei won't be remembered by many at all. I think his only appearance was coming on as sub at Bradford. He played about five minutes, barely touched the ball, and was caught seemingly looking for someone in the main stand when the ball was passed to him. It rolled past him, out for a throw in, and Mark McGhee was so annoyed that he subbed him straight away. I don't think he ever played again.

He's Adie Williams' barber now apparently.

I also remember Grand National winner 'West Tip' on the pitch at a pre season friendly back in 86.

Without looking it up, I'm nearly positive we had Nathan Ake on loan in the dark spring of 2015

That bloke, what's his name, that one who played for Reading at some point it would have been in the 90s (or maybe 2000s). He had a face you wouldn't forget. Can almost see him now, he often wore a blue and white hooped shirt. Got subbed in a game once. Had hair - I think, perhaps he didn't. Definitely had a leg or two though.

That bloke we signed from Newcastle.
Was going to resurrect his England career here.
He couldn't because his head was in the wrong place.
