Yep just seen that on SSN. Good news that, sounds like the lad has some talent. Be nice to see him involved in the u23s this year

ACADEMY

Signing or renewing professional deals this summer are

This group will be joined by Liam Driscoll, Ben House, Joel Rollinson and Ade Shokunbi while Ethan Coleman, Tom Holmes and Kosta Sparta have signed professional deals before their scholarship term ended

So that's 19 out and 1 in (plus Ali Al-Habsi and Paulo Hurtado could shortly follow making 21 gone).

Danny Loader has agreed a deal for next week when he turns 17.

That'd be really good if it happened - a 17 year old involved regularly with the 1st team.

Unsure if sarcastic but I don't see an issue with it. Look at sessengnon, Radford, dembele etc. He will be raw, hungry and a complete unknown quantity for defences. Or at least a good last 25 minute speed burst at defenders as a sub late in the game

He's training with the first team, selected regularly at international level and is rated highly by scouts. I'd say we chuck him in next season.
Fulham did it with sessegnon and that went well.
There's nothing to suggest a young player can't succeed at this level.

I didn't read that as sarcastic.

I'd love it if we had a really young player that was capable in your sess/dembele mould etc. If you're ready you're ready but even if you're not than being flung into that situation can sometimes bring the best out of a young player.

You could argue a lot of players are stifled by not being flung into first team football. If Dele Alli for example was bought by Tottenham and not played his development could have turned out completely different.

Exactly. Going back even further though would he have developed into the player that Tottenham would look to sign if he didn't make his MK Dons debut when he was 16 and played regularly thereafter.

Every player develops differently but I do feel sometimes we're perhaps overly cautious.

Perfect hat trick for Loader today. Should be interesting to see if we play him.

Royal Rother I dunno, maybe he didn't get on with Stam, maybe he has an attitude problem but for me it just beggars belief that Fosu, an Academy graduate, our stand out player last pre-season coming after a brilliant cameo against Derby at the end of the previous season, wasn't given an opportunity here.

And that instead we spent money on Beerens.

A less than stellar season on loan in League 2 would suggest the right call was made.

Still, he's been given a chance to prove us wrong at a level higher than what he's used to playing at.

I know what you mean but this was his home, he played in the 1st team a bit, showed immense promise, then got chucked out on loan hundreds of miles away whilst we signed in a load of 2nd raters from other clubs.

I don't know what sort of character he is but that might just have dented his confidence and given him a bit of a chip.

I just think he'd shown enough to warrant a bit more nurturing here.

But then I'd rather see us mid-table with a team largely made up of our own Academy products playing with passion for the club that gave them their opportunity, than in the play off zone with other clubs' Academy rejects and a load of foreign players looking for someone else to give them a chance because they weren't good enough to get into their previous clubs' 1st team, playing boring tedious rubbish most of the time..

Maybe I'm being too harsh and maybe it's just me.

Expecting Dominic Samuel to be leaving permanently soon, with Blackburn current favourites

I hope it was sarcastic. A school kid scores a hatful in a behind closed doors friendly and suddenly you're calling for him to lead the line for the first team? Are you completely oxf*rd mental?

Also you mentioned Radford - are you referring to Hereford United legend Ronnie?

Hmm, I'm going to side with John Smith here. I'm all for him being in amongst the first team if he's deemed good enough, but comparing him to Ronaldo and Neymar after a friendly is a bit hysterical.

Remember what happened to Ryan Edwards after an excellent pre-season where he was hyped up by fans?
