Libertine Now that we don't have any Americans in the first team this will do just fine seeing I am Italian-American. :D

You must have loved Federici..

Yep, sure did. Was sad to see him go. Our keepers recently have been great. An American, an Italian-Aussie and now an Italian. That being said I am sad to see Ali go, loved his warrior mentality. Very happy we got Vito though. 8)

He has some howlers in him but fancy our coaches to get the best out of him.

I don't see why he can't at least duplicate what Ali did for us. Solid keeper and a good signing for us. Definitely better value than Button who Fulham reportedly wanted £3M for or Darlow who Newcastle wanted £7M for. Mannone is as solid if not better than Button

Happy to have him here. Must be a record fee for us on a goalie too!

If someone 2 years ago had offered Al Habsi or Mannone, I'd have taken Mannone. I still see this as us improving and therefore I'm happy.

TBM
safc9ftm Then he'll fit in well as Stam likes to play the slow patient game, out from the back and nothing long from the keeper.

Al Habsi couldn't even kick long. So wasn't an option last season.

£2M is a steal for this bloke.

Boro are mugs and paid £5M for Darren Randolph who's no better a keeper in my opinion.

Might be my nationality talking but Randolph is a better keeper.

I was thinking that, but then - that's not really how it works, it it? Dom Samuel's transfer fee was half a mill allegedly. Morata's is 100 times that. Is Morata really 100 times better?

Pricing is on some kind of exponential curve rather than a linear one. It costs considerably more than twice as much money to buy a player that is twice as good.

Wages/length of contract remaining are often factored into transfer fees, which is why they sometimes don't make any sense.
