Looking forward to seeing the new signings in action. Also interested to see what system we will play whether it is 3 at the back or not and whether it is a more intense speed of play and slightly more aggressive going forward.

This a joke? That's our first XI for the season with the exception of Beerens and Kelly or a new signing.
Anyone better is injured.

Royals and Racers Mannone,Gunter,obita,Moore.Ilori,Van Der Berg,Evans,Swift.Clement, Popa,Bodvarrson

So presumably:

.......................Mannone
..Gunter.....Moore...Ilori.....Obita
...............Evans..Berg..Swift
.....Popa.............................Clement
......................Bodvasson

You could make a decent XI out of those missing as well:

.......................Kermorgant
...Beerens.............................McCleary
.................Quinn..Kelly..Barrett
..Blackett....McShane...Dickie.....Watson
...........................Jaakkola

I'd like it to be a little stronger in attack and a few more of our other players back... but it's pretty decent.

Same old stuff from Reading, lots of fart arsing about with the ball and creating very little of any note while managing to maintain that strange air of insecurity defensively

And now Berg's off with an injury. Kelly on

Vitesse look like a decent mid table PL side on a solid run of results

Reading generally struggling to get going with only one good chance so far which Swifty couldn't quite reach

Clement is playing wide left midfield and dropping into the centre when Swift moves across. Some nice touches but not anything that a Fosu or Stacey couldn't do

Bodvarsson appears mobile about the attacking third but hasn't tracked back deep like Kermorgant does. Has the pace and size of Kermorgant but is not a player catching the eye. Also picked up an ankle knock late on and therefore will probably be replaced at HT

Mannone looks decent, didn't really have a chance with either of the goals from what I could see from the far end

Swift is best Reading player on the pitch

All in all need to be much better than this next week

I think we should really be making a better account of ourselves but Vitesse did finish 5th in the Eredivisie last season and are regular entrants to the Europa League so we shouldn't be too alarmed at them beating us either.

I wonder if the staff are a little miffed at Vitesse injuring VDB and giving Bodvarsson a knock, it seems a bit unnecessarily heavy handed for a friendly.
