Conor Shaughnessy rated?

by Royalspaff » 22 Sep 2017 09:04

Just signed a big 4 year deal at Leeds after impressing. They seem to really rate him what happened at Reading?

I suspect we and Leeds currently have different expectatioms for our CBs. We are probably looking for defenders who are comfortable on the ball, Leeds are looking for defenders who are comfortable stamping on someone's head.

Must admit can only recall seeing him in midfield.
Never heard of him being close to a firstbteam squad and we are very well blessed with good young centre backs. Moore, Blackett and Illori are only a couple of years older than him before you include Andresson, Osho, Dickie etc so looks like. Living on has been the best thing for him.
May do an Angus MacDonald and succeed by accepting he needed to take a backwards step first....

Yeah, thought he was a midfielder too. Can't remember seeing him too much, think Kelly and Fridjonsson may have been preferred to him, he certainly didn't stand out. Hadn't realised he was doing so well since leaving.

Very surprised to see him at Leeds. Probably less surprised to see him in defence. Big guy who sometimes filled in at centre back late on or in pre-season. Pretty ordinary midfielder. Not uncommon for players like that to move to a more defensive position and not have to lean so much on their technical skills.

Didn't really take a step back - one year for Leeds U23s, they get an injury crisis and suddenly he's a Championship centre back. Makes you wonder what our better youngsters could do if they got a run of games in the Championship...

You cant be saying things like that "giving the youngsters a run of games" on this forum. Since Stam/Club have already shown by the
amount of youngsters left last season their intentions.
