Who will make it and who won't?

by RoyalJones » 03 Dec 2017 13:34

With Omar Richards recently signing a new deal after his impressive performance and the U23s on the upturn after a change of manager, who will make the step from the academy to be a valuable asset in the first team?

Players like Richards, Barrett, Rinomhota and Watson are almost certain to make it, seeing as they have been present in cup games this season (although look at Nicholas Bignall).

Who will and who won't make it in to the first team in your opinion?

Given Omar Richards went from not being able to buy a game in the u23s to fringe of first team in 6 months, and Watson doing the same, not a oxf*rd clue tbh.

None of them are almost certain to make it.
Richards and Watson look to have a decent chance on the very limited amount we have seen of them at first team level.
Barrett is a long way off IMHO. HE has talent but not sure he has the discipline and intelligence to play consistently at this level. Rimonhota has come on a lot but still not even close to the first team. The new contract was interesting...
Of others I think the one with the best future may be Andresson. Got all the physical attributes, clearly got the football brain and has done well out on loan. I also think Jordan Holsgrove and Tyler Frost have a lot of talent but neither have been tested at first team level.
Novacovic seems to have made a decent tranisition In Holland and has to be in the first team squad next season.
The two most talked about youngsters (McIntyre and Loader) have huge challenges, MCIntyre needs an injury free run for the rest of the season. If he gets that then expect him to be playing cup games next season and fighting Andresson for Blackett’s bench spot. Loader needs to use his international success as a spur to move up a notch, I’ve seen him half a dozen times and not been convinced but clearly others rate him highly. He has time on his side but would be a tragedy if he thinks he has cracked it having won an age group World medal.
