Postponement tomorrow?

by Royal_jimmy » 10 Dec 2017 14:02

Does anyone think tomorrow could get called off for the snow? Especially if it freezes tonight and it snows more tomorrow

The only reason it will get postponed is if they think the surrounds of the stadium are unsafe for supporters. I think that unlikely.

My mate says it's probably going to get called off. He heard that from the girl who works in the ticket office, who knows the guy in charge of the health and safety in the car park.

I'll be a tad annoyed as I've got the day off so I can be up at 4am to watch it.

I doubt it will get called off. Be an utter shambles if 1cm snow stops it happening, esp with it being on Sky

The pitch and stadium should be fine and imagine enough traffic through the day to keep the roads nearby pretty clear

We have undersoil heating, so there’s little chance of a frozen pitch. I recall the QPR game or something going ahead despite the snow happening just a few hours earlier

It could be a possibility. It's not the snow or the pitch that will be the problem, it's ice around the ground.

Met Office has the stadium at -1c at 8pm tomorrow night

Apparently it's going to "feel like" -6, better bring your long johns...

I am worried about the ice especially going up the hill. Let's hope it doesn't get called off

Didn't see too many northern games called off over the weekend despite the freezing conditions.

They will have gritters on the roads round the stadium and all the surrounds. If somehow there was ice on the steps inside the ground that might be tricky but they’ve dealt with this sort of problem before.

The trains are running so the team can get here.
The fans can stay at home and watch on TV.
They woukdn’t call off a televised game because a few away fans coyidn’t travel would they ? Especially if the pitch and local area was absolutely fine ....

as the temperature changes, there is probably more chance of it being fogged off (hopefully not at half-time)

If you don't mind me asking (and apologies if you have said before) where exactly would you be CountryRoyal? That's an identical kickoff time for me.

Personally I can't be arsed to get up that early for it so will record it and then get up early and watch it before going to work / checking my phone.

If it does get called off it will be at the end of half time again so that they can make sure everyone buys hotdogs, teas and alcoholic beverages instead of just heading home, just like they did when we had fog on the pitch.

More chance of heavy rain calling the game off - Leicester City at home on New Years Day wasn't it?

My advice is to listen to the radio/check websites like the BBC and readingfc.co.uk for updates. If you're lucky it will get called off just before you pay £5 or more for your bus ticket.
