How did you equate Royal Jimmy saying we would've kept Al-Habsi with him thinking he's a missing link? :|

John Smith Alright sarcy. For you to think that Al-Habsi is a missing link just goes to show your level of footballing knowledge. A keeper who made more costly errors than our current keeper. Is your head in the sand?

WTF are you talking about John

I've never mentioned AAH

Royal Jimmy did and you agreed with him

and that's the main thing you took from that...

rather than not knowing what the future holds!

Had that side gone up, where would you have strengthened?
(limited resources so only 2 or 3 positions)

Don't think the keeper was good enough for the Prem so keeper and maybe spunked the rest on a big name striker or striker and centre back to reinforce the spine of the team.

Royal_jimmy Considering we rode our luck in a lot of games, it'd have required a lot of investment and shrewd signings, the chances are that we'd come straight back down.

Agreed, we would have needed to invest and make good signings. That is typically the case with promoted teams. Yet many (most?) teams come straight back down.

When you win a lot of games (as we did) you don't spank everyone. You win some close one's. (You lose some close one's, too). How much luck we had is subjective and can be debated. Successes can be marginalized. However, you don't finish 3rd in the Champ these days (and sit in 3rd for much of the season) because of luck. Over 46 games you get found out and you finish where you deserve to.

did BKnumber6 really go through 2 months of posts to dig this original rubbish posting out?

Watched Hudders with interest this year - obvs a similar sized club, similar level of players as us at the back end of last year.

I don't think they've spent particularly wisely. Seemed to have spent a fair bit on average players (ie Ince, Malone, Pritchard) who are no doubt on high wages. I wonder how much they've actually made from their promotion if they come straight back down

Pleased for them they've had some good times this year, inc the Man U victory, but wonder whether the club will benefit that much long term from promotion (if they do indeed come back down)

If we went up, and stayed up for a few seasons, what would our model look like? Would everyone be ok if we did a Burnley? Burnley have done well since their promotion to PL, right?

Yet, they aren't exactly well known for playing entertaining footy, either now or back in the Champ. They don't score many goals. 1-0 is a common scoreline in their games. Their GD is currently -2. They've scored 20 goals in 26 league games this season. In their 13 home games, they've scored 9 goals, and haven't scored more than one in any of them(?). Their manager, Dyche, is said by some to be rather dour, both as a person and in his style of play. Thoughts?

I would, yes. Are you going to make it happen for me?
