Which was worse

Lot being talked about this being the worst Reading “team” ever and that people just do not want to watch this turgid dismal boring rubbish but is it as bad as watching a clueless Reading trying to play the game under Terry the taxi or the final year of Branfoot’s hoofball or the witless nothingness we got under Tommy Burns?

For me I think it is this current time because of the quality of player in the squad and playing pedigree of the manager. It should be so much better but all we get is over complicated piddling about with, seemingly, more attention on safety rather than taking the game to the opposition.

Really hoping it can be turned round and this time next year Jaap will have cracked it so we can all look back and appreciate what he is actually trying to do but in the meantime do you think this is the worst period watching Reading?

LOL @ the idea that half of a season of tedious shit in tier 2 after a play off campaign is anywhere near as a bad as the constant rubbish Burns served up for the best part of 2 years in tier 3.

This must be worse. Jaap and his plan is a combination of Branfoot’s arrogance in his final year, Tommy’s love of spending money and love of his own countrymen players and Terry the taxi being clueless on how to get the best out of his players and being way out of his depth as a manager

We’re being treated to a triple whammy with Jaap.

Save this poll for the end of the season.

Worst Reading team ever, lol. Mid table championship versus relegation from the old Division three in the 70s.

Lol talking about recency bias.

Especially as only fans over the age of 35 have any hope of remembering the other three.

Some people cant get it into their stupid heads of the grade of football we have been playing over the years before throwing their rattles out of the pram.
While I enjoy the OPs match threads he seriously does come out with a load of shit sometimes.

Norfolk Royal speaks as a true veteran and is spot on. I recall some pretty dire days in Division Four. Having said that I believe the current squad is the most under achieving one we have ever had. Stam is lucky to still be in a job.

To be a true supporter one needs to be eternally optimistic. There's a foundation of a good team for the future. Could be far far worse.

It’s cyclic, it will be.

Like so many others, this is not the worst stuff that has been served up and digested, believe me.

Enjoy the positives....however few they may seem.

Wow! A social psych reference and a mention of the poll's inherent sampling bias... I'm impressed.

This season is nowhere near our worst. Jesus christ.

Terry and *that* night at Oxf*rd must rate as the worst performance - totally laughable.

However, the so-called pedigree of this squad and the dire dreadfulness of Burton, Brum, Stevenage and Hull must put it pretty close because of what it should be capable of and.... ummmm, fails.

It's not the worst Readong team, but Zip correctly points out that it is the most under achieving squad we have ever had.

To be a penalty kick away from the premier league, spend a record amount of money during the summer, then sink to 18th mid way through the next season is poor.

all subjective and how far back can you remember.

So in the absense of the Ian Royal option...I am spoiling my ballot paper

I'm not old enough to remember the 70's but it always makes me laugh that Branfoot's hoofball always gets a mention in these sort of polls but never a mention of Porterfield's 2 years of unadulterated bum gravy. Believe me, Stam's team is like watching the 1970 Brazil team in comparison.

Perhaps your expectations of some of the players is too high then.
