Thoroughly decent and genuine representative of the club.

Played very well out of position at left back.

Hendo +1 for the appreciation of CG. The abuse he gets from certain fans is quite astounding.

+1 As for the undeserved abuse, every club has its share of the footballing ignorant! What might make ours different is that they genuinely seem to believe that they are a better judge of a player's ability than six successive Reading Managers (includes caretakers) and six successive Wales Managers!

Woodcote Royal Some of you need to recognise the difference between "abuse" and assessment of ability and performance.

I don't know Chris Gunter the man and have no reason to believe he is anything other than a decent guy.

What I also know is that he's a very average right back both defensively and offensively and his 85? Welsh Caps says more about a Welsh side which, minus Gareth Bale, wouldn't pull up any trees in the Championship; a team that regularly contains two of our current squad plus one former, bone idle, member of it :|
.

The success in Euro 2016 of a team that 'wouldn't pull up any trees in the Championship' says even more about the quality of the England team then, doesn't it!

Royal Blue. Quite. I suspect Aaron Ramsey, Ben Davies, Joe Allen, Ethan Ampadu etc would really struggle in the Championship.

Of course he looks like he's doing well because he's Mr. Consistent, Mr. Average, Mr. 5/10. So when everyone else is playing like shit and looking like a league one player it's no surprise that he stands out from the rest without doing anything special.

He's perfectly adequate to keep us mid table but nothing more. Fortunately for us that's the best we can hope for at the minute!

We're very lucky to have him and any player like him. Genuinely appears to care and tries every single game. Fitness levels and lack of injuries also fairly remarkable. Could do with a few more players with CG's attitude. I have great respect for the guy.

I bet Wolves are kicking themselves

If and when Bacuna is fit and can be spared in midfield, Gunter shouldn't walk into ours :P

Completely agree. He's a consistently good player, and seems like he genuinely cares - always applauds the fans at the end of games and seems a real credit to the club. No, he's not Messi in right back form, but who else has performed as well for us over the past five years? He even got a hattrick of assists in midweek!

Would much rather have people like him at the club than a Drenthe, Guthrie, Blackman etc.
Not being a twat should really count for something.

+1 As for the undeserved abuse, every club has its share of the footballing ignorant! On the flip side to that, he has played his part in getting those managers the sack.

In that case, so has every player who has regularly played for the club/played for Wales....

You miss the point-Gunter is the constant factor here-he is the only player to be a regular during that time and all of our managers (apart from one hanging on by a thread) have been sacked.
