Rest of Season Predictions?*

by McDermolenko » 05 Mar 2018 15:47

What scores are we fancying?

Personally:

RDG 2-0 BOL
RDG 1-1 LEE
WOL 2-0 RDG
NOR 1-0 RDG
RDG 1-1 QPR
AST 2-0 RDG
RDG 0-1 PRE
FUL 3-1 RDG
RDG 1-0 SUN
WED 1-0 RDG
RDG 1-2 IPS
CAR 2-1 RDG

Putting us on a grand total of 42 points. Not promising.

Wolves (1st)
Norwich (14th)
Villa (3rd)
Fulham (4th)
Wednesday (17th)
Cardiff (2nd)

So we are still to play the current top four away from home. And our other games are against a team we've already lost at this season, and a team where we lost 7-1 last season. Yikes

Our home form is going to be vital. Gulp.

all our home games are against teams either below us, or realistically very little chance of play offs (Preston may argue that I suppose) or relegation. Would be pretty appalling if we didn't scrape together 10-11 points from that lot

Need I remind you of our current home form, including defeats to Millwall, Birmingham, and Burton...

no you definitely don't. Not saying we will get that number of points from the home games, but we really should (and need) to

Just use the predictor. the actual scores are not that important. it will give you a better idea of where we might finish.

https://www.inyourarea.co.uk/news/predi ... elegation/

I`ve done it twice, once 46 points 3 points clear of the drop. then 47 points 6 points clear. what`s absolutely clear is we need to get some home wins because you cant see us getting much from the away games.

Just done this - as a relatively optimistic Royals fan. Outcome:

20 Hull 48
21 Sheff Wed 47
22 Reading 46
23 Burton 45
24 Sunderland 45

So have lumped on at 9/1 to soften the blow.

What’s certain is that tomorrow is a massive game (I went with a draw).

What on earth were you doing with Sunderland, Burton, Birmingham and Barnsley's results!?

That would need to involve those teams going from having been at 0.80, 0.85, 0.86 and 0.94 ppg respectively, to a run in of 1.55, 1.33, 1.63 and 1.33 ppg. All four of them drastically improving on how they've been doing all season!? 1 or maybe 2 of them I could see, but all four!

Not a cat in hells chance of the bottom two teams ending on 45 points

22 Barnsley 38

That was me being pretty optimistic, I can't see us beating anyone.

42 points. Seems to be about 50/50 being relegated in recent seasons with that total, although I still reckon that we'll stay up as Sunderland, Burton, Birmingham and Barnsley are as bad as us.

Yep.
Sunderland : Villa H. QPR A. Preston H. Derby A. SW H. Leeds A . Norwich H Reading A. Burton H . Fulham A. Wolves H.

Burton: Brentford H. Bristol city H SU A. Wolves A Cardiff A. Middlesbrough H. Birmingham A. Hull H. Derby H. Sunderland A Bolton H. PNE A.

Birmingham: Middlesbrough H. Cardiff A. Hull H Ipswich H, Bolton A Burton H. Bristol city A Wolves A. SU H . QPR A. Fulham H.

Barnsley: Cardiff A Middlesbrough A. Norwich H. Millwall H. Bristol city H. Forest A. SU H. Ipswich A. Bolton H Leeds A . Brentford H. Derby A.

I dont class any of those run-ins as easy . but its noticable we`ve all got horrible fixtures on the last day. Wolves will up by then. so Sunderland would like to be within striking distance. Burton will very probably be down by then. so unless we can be 3 points clear it could be squeaky bum time.

So I doubt it.
