Coppells Lost Coat Really wanted him to turn it around but it was clear the players had lost faith, the fans lost faith and eventually the board lost faith.
Anyone know if the backroom staff are gone too?

Hopefully.

I think this is a premature decision.

We were on the cusp of greatness and the board has lost their bottle.

Just an idea but wouldn't it be great if Sir Steve came back as caretaker until the end of the season?

Old Man Andrews Bye bye.

Shame he didn't have it in him to do the decent thing in early January to allow a new manager time.

Why would any manager walk away?

Always wait to be sacked and take the pay-off.

Norfolk Royal Reading Football Club announce that Jaap Stam has left his position as manager of the club with immediate effect.

Majority shareholders, Mr Yongge Dai and Ms Xiu Li Dai, had wanted to give Jaap every opportunity to turn around what has been a difficult and challenging Championship campaign.

Jaap has not wavered in the time, effort and sheer determination he has put in to try to steer the team away from the position we find ourselves in. However, after careful consideration, the decision has been made that a change is now necessary.

We would like to thank Jaap for his hard work and commitment to the club, in particular noting what he achieved in a memorable first season in club management, and we wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavours.

We will now focus on identifying and recruiting the right person to take Reading Football Club forward.

Thanks for last season, Jaap, but this had to be done. 1 win in 18 is just not acceptable.

It's going to be an intriguing last few games.

If Copps came back as a caretaker I’d attend my first game in 4 years.

Then you speak to the club and come to an arrangement that works for both parties. He doesn't have that in him though, he isn't a real man.

McD? Copps? Avram Grant? Karl Robinson? Sven Goran Eriksson? Steve Gerrard? Steve McLaren? Frank Lampard? All will be up there with the bookies. Would have thought they had someone lined up

Just for lolz

wouldn't rule that out or Coppell - then murty in the summer.

I presume Bakkatti and Ulderink will also be leaving

About week to get someone in or Michael Gilkes to take charge for QPR and Villa?

I wonder if the last week or so has seen the club speaking to possibles already?

Had to happen and I actually had a sigh of relief. Shame that Stam never worked out, because at face value he could have been a great manager, but after a time tactics became clearly dour and anyone could see they weren't working and were tremendously boring to watch.

Be interesting to see what style the team now play.

I agree he should have gone after Burton or Brentford, when it was clear he could no longer get the team to play in the way he wanted them to. This is potentially 10-15 games too late, but at least gives us a chance of staying up

I really hope the whole structure of the coaching is looked at over the summer. Happy for a short term appointment to come in until the end of the season and then look longer term then. There would be plenty of candidates

This was way too late. JVDB sticking up for him was probably a straw too many for the owners.
