Doyle and Hunt Interview

by Deadlock » 06 May 2018 23:09

Not quite the current team, but Stephen Hunt and Kevin Doyle had a long chat in front of an Irish Independent journalist back in January. Subjects included the 106 season, the first Premier league season, playing for Ireland, eating out every night in Reading town centre, their time at Wolves, Hunt marrying Doyle's cousin after Doyle had told him he had no chance with her, Doyle's move to Colorado Rapids, and Doyle's decision to retire after suffering one too many concussions.

Thanks for that, very good read. Incredible that Doyle can't head a ball anymore.

Its amazing how far the sports world has come with regard to concussions in a short period of time. Neuroscience is one of those aspects of the medical field about which relatively little is known, and they are still learning.

Anyway, here's another piece on Doyle:

Coppell finding and signing those Irish players was a real coup, and with the Dolan's being brothers, it was a fortunate link and connection for us at that time.

‘Not one time have I watched a game and thought, jeez, I’d love to be out there’
Presumably watching Reading games this year then.

A good read
