URZZZZ Nelson likely to be out for the rest of the season

Desperate news about Oliveira possibly being out for the rest of the season. With no recall options on our loan players could we not look to sign a free agent, just short term? Someone like Lasse Vibe, he's without a club. He’d do a job for us if he’s fit. We just need options and if fit then I’d like to see us take a last-ditch gamble on someone like him. Needs must!

windermereROYAL So relying on a 18 year old and Meite, Christ how did it come to this?

Because somebody decided we should get smaller in the Champ and signed Baldock and McNulty last Summer, and at the same time decided to keep Bod who has always been injury prone.
Oh, and also decided to give big money to Liam Moore in that window when he threatened to leave (Ajayi another goal today).

McNulty's scoring goals.

But yeah, Gourlay was a total prick.

Bod played 93 times in the 2 seasons prior to this one - bit unfair to say he has always been injury prone

Oliveira out for the season. This is a huge blow and very damaging for our prospects of staying up.

Big blow, but tbh an expected one, no?

Big big responsiibilty now on the shoulders of Meite, Loader, Barrow and Swift plus McCleary and Harriott.

Surely it's time for a change of medical staff at the end of the season. These small injury problems keep on becoming something bigger. This has been going on for a few years now.

If you actually read what Gomes says he hasn't written Nelson off for the season but as usual Low & co have put a negative slant on it; the 10 week absence was the initial doctor's assessment the day after the injury.

Looks like Eljaria is def back after the break and both Rino and Baldock in with a shout so not all bad.

Gomes brought his own fitness coach didnt he?

There seems to be three parts to our problems.

Picking up a lot of injuries in training / matches - suggests our conditioning and fitness arent great and / or we're trying to play too cloae to the physical limits

Diagnosis and treatment - seems to be optimistic and lead to way too many set backs

Return to fitness - so many times we seem to hear x is back in training only for them to be injured again a week later.

It just seems to be a bigger problem than just the medical staff

If the medical staff aren’t overseeing/heavily influenced in all of that, then there is plenty of room for improvement.

Of course there are similarities with OGS and his increased work rate in training with the increase in injuries at United....

Yiadom out of the Ghana squad due to injury. Excellent :(

Have this nagging feeling that Miazga is going to get crocked this break as well whilst with the US, and we'll end up with McShane for the rest of the season.

This smells like an important player dropping out of an international squad to focus on their club team.

Nothing in it for me, happens all the time.

I'd be willing to bet a vast amount of money that I don't have that this is the case. Why would we allow him to fly all the way over there to risk injury in an absolutely pointless fixture between Ghana and Kenya

Yiadom limped off at the end of the Stoke game. Definite injury.

Any other club and I’d think it’d be minor.

POTS by a country mile - though Gunter is an ‘adequate’ replacement; be a huge blow if he is out for any period
