bracksroyal10 I think it all depends on how we start, get a win against Derby and the confidence levels will be sky high. Lose and it could set the tone of negativity for this year. A win would be huge for a positive vibe around the club which has been needed for a very long time. On paper we look a little stronger with Mcnulty, JDB, Baldock and Meite leading the line and I'm confident should we see the likes of Swift/Aluko turn up this year we will score considerably more than we did last year.
Generally speaking I think West Brom or Stoke will bounce straight back and I would expect to see one of the under performing sides of last year such as Sheff Wed or Norwich as a contender too. This season has the potential to produce a consecutive promotion side to the Premier League in either Blackburn or Wigan.
Realistically anywhere between 12th - 15th can be regarded as a great achievement for Reading FC.
Agree. We have two very tough games to start with, and COULD ship 6/7 goals even if we were half-decent when measured over the season
It would have been nice to have three or four easier games first.
But looking at the first
six games (Bolton, Brum, Blackburn and Villa, none of whom are likely to be top eight teams) we could look solid enough at the end of the six games.
But an optimistic spin would be that even the top sides, sides that are clearly better, usually take a while to find their juggernaut form.
If you have to play auto or top six sides, best get the games in early when they are less perfect machines
