I always like him, it's a shame he picked up a lot of injuries and was never a Stam favourite.

Think we'll look back on this one with regret in a couple of years. Evans is a very talented player who should have been playing every week for us. Meyler might be a better option in the short term, particularly defensively, but Evans has a higher ceiling and was also a good option in defence.

Don't really understand why Derby are signing him if Huddlestone doesn't fit stylistically. Evans is basically a young Huddlestone - big guy, great passer, good positioning, limited mobility. Would have thought they'd be better off going for Kelly or Bacuna.

What a load of nonsense. Evans can't cut it at Championship level, he had two years to prove himself and failed on almost every level. He's a League 1 player, every player has their level.

Well.. People said that about Jake Cooper and he seems to be on the rise.

I think it’s a bit of wishful thinking with Evans. He certainly wasn’t a great passer by any stretch, and positionally he was all over the place at times last year

Cooper always looked talented, just kept making ridiculous mistakes. Evans was just crushingly average every game

Still he seems a good lad and in the right club he may well improve and shine, and good luck to him if it does. It was never going to happen here

While I agree with you - I wouldn't be that certain .... with a better manager he might turn a corner and come back to haunt us. But I don't think he can be compared with Huddlestone or Meyler - just too light-weight ...

As is usually the case, the truth is somewhere in the middle. Evans is certainly not a player for whom League One is his ceiling and neither is he destined for greatness.

With the right breaks, attitude and hard work in the right environment he could make a quality Championship player or maybe even in time a decent lower Prem one. But equally he could fade to obscurity and find himself in the lower leagues, conference or out of football if things go badly for him.

So he could be a Premiership player or drop out of the game completely. Thanks for your insight :|

Depends on whether he wants to play or not, don't see why we can't all be laughing.

Tbf, could see him fitting in well with the aimless pass the ball around and create no chances before being hit on the break game plan than Derby demonstrated for the first hour of the game

I’m not convinced. He didn’t do it very well last year.
