Re: long post - sorry! It certainly doesn't help that the charts from E361 are so big. Of course there is no requirement to read through it all...

Frustrating day at work and mucking about in a spreadsheet tends to help that. I hope everyone is having a pleasant Friday

I liked it. That's not a ringing endorsement on HNA though.

Signing Oliveira would be a big mistake and I sincerely hope the club is not considering it.

not sure how reliable it is really, but HITC are saying the deal likely to happen this week with Smith going out on loan

At the right price, I'm pretty confident this is a good thing.

Withthe clear financial issues we have I don't think we can do much better which is really sad when you think about it.

What clear issues are they then? are you basing it solely on the fact we haven't gone out and bid 5/10 mill on a player (that we know of) ?

I reckon there is money to spend if necessary, but the owners/Gourlay are probably rightly not splashing out until the squad size is vastly reduced

Agree. I think there is likely money to purchase where needed but the wages on the books are probably pretty high, if not too high. So makes sense to try and move wages off where we don't want/need the player and then replace.

Remember loan window is open til end of August, so we can also look to loan a player in after the 9th with a view to buying in Jan.

Not involved in BHA friendly despite Hughton saying he would be at the weekend

Think this one may be close

Apparently we are very close to agreeing a fee with Brighton. Might be less than they'd usually accept though as Baldock doesn't want to wake a wage cut

He’s on like £40k a week so I’d oxf*rd hope he does take a wage cut.

we were right up against financial fair play rules a couple of seasons ago and since then we spent way above our means last year. we have a huge squad and a large wage bill.
not sure what other evidence is required, but if some is required for some reason id point to the fact we have so far only signed people who were very cheap

If we can get Baldock for around £1m to £1.5m then I think that is good business when you see Derby possibly paying Ipswich £8m for Waghorn.

Silly season but don’t know what source they used. Said it’s £38k. He was on £15k with wet sham back in 2012. Avg wages have gone up considerably since then and he signed a premier league contract last summer so it’s not beyond the realms of imagination that he would be on something of that order imho.

Would have thought 20ish + performance bonuses. Surely most contracts are based on that nowadays, and being as he barely played a minute last season, doubt he got more than his basic

And likewise if he comes here, no doubts will be heavily incentivised
