Record Watch 2018/19

by Franchise FC » 29 Jul 2018 18:08

Rather than get depressed with the potential results on the field I thought I'd start worrying about the two records a little earlier than normal.

At least two weeks until we can hang onto the 13 wins
At least October before we can hang onto the 106 - and that's if there's an unprecedented number of draws.

13 wins
Obviously too early for the Premier League
Championship - only Swansea left, plus maybe Leeds or Derby
League One - Barnsley, Doncaster, Peterborough, Gillingham & Portsmouth
League Two - Exeter, Lincoln and the Franchisees

I always look for teams who are 'chucked in' for the 106. Like Newcastle have been a couple of times.

Sunderland, the team we took the record off, look the only team completely out of sink atm.

Them and Man City look like big fish in a toddler pond, but Sunderland haven't started as well as I'd expected. I might be conned by their name rather than their current ability.

Sadly, I think Leeds could beat the 106. They are the one team in the country that I would hate to do this. Happy for any other team to beat the record. Just not Leeds.

If they'd beaten Bolton and QPR I'd laugh too but they've actually beaten very easily two decent sides,. they could do a Wolves this season.

They've beaten the bookies favourite and sixth favourite easily in their first two games, why wouldn't they piss over the rest of the league?

Really, they could do a Wolves and get nowhere near our record to break our record. Wow.

I despair.

Yep, easily (109 points) then they'll do a Leicester in 2019-20

but go out in the semis of the Champions League to a disputed goal in the 98th minute

Every season this happens. One team starts well (as inevitably someone will) and some of our fans start worrying.

Relax. Wolves have been the biggest threat to our record in years and they didn't even reach 100 points. Let's not forget that Leeds were top in late September last year and ended up 13th.

2 games has to be an absolute record for this nonsense.

Why anyone would even think about 106 before November is beyond me.

Premier League -Tottenham, Bournemouth ( ), Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Man City, Watford, Chelsea
Championship - just dirty Leeds
League One - Peterborough & Portsmouth
League Two - none at all already

Quite good to see the back of Man Utd. They looked to have the easiest start.

Tell Paul, that as far as I can find out it is twelve in season 1930-31 That record is held by Manchester United. Strange then, that it was them we were fighting neck and neck to establish the winning streak record from the start of the season. If I remember correctly they only managed about eleven.
