CountryRoyal Mannone has single handedly lost that for us. Awful positioning for the header and clearly don’t need to mention the first. Gutted.

I agree

It’s not just Mannone. We should have been ahead at half time and didn’t take our chances. I really dislike Derby so this really pisses me off.

oxf*rd it. Howler and a stunner.

Aluko got the rub of the green and was more positive. Baldock didn't get involved well, Meite is a beast but hot headed. Meyler looks excellent. Yiadom good. Richards decent. When Bod and Swift went off we lost threat.

Ok performance with a sucker punch. Hope that's not a sign of same as last year.

Bugger.

I'm a week in to my Neapolitan honeymoon with the now official Mrs St Pauli, and we've had a rare night off from cultural outings.

Saw the second half on hotel wifi. Two things.

Derby did not deserve that win. A mistake from Manone (it happens) gifted them a goal, other than that I thought his distribution and decision making in the box was good.

Their second was good but jammy. A Reading win or draw would have been an accurate reflection.

If we keep playing like that we will easily finish mid table or higher, and it will be an entertaining season. The play was fast and aggressive with plenty of movement.

Is the ultras thing in the south stand a real thing now? It looked very crowded in what is normally an empty half of a stand on the stream.

From Despair To Where? Well that save shut me up

Doesn't really work like that. His howler gave them confidence and changed the course of the game. He doesn't make that error we don't go on to lose from there. He is completely at fault for this result IMO.

I don't disagree, as you say, its a momentum shifter. He has his moments in games but I don't think he instils confidence in the defence.

There are positives to take out of the game though. Only one game but we looked a lot more direct and cohesive than last season.

Always happens on Sky.
Always against teams I hate.
We didn’t deserve to lose overall, but we got worse as the match went on.
Vito massively at fault for winner too. Sigh.
Yaks looks like he is going to be entertaining this season, if nothing else!

The problem is we don’t know whether Walker is good enough at this level. Derby were very lucky to win that. Once they equalised though we were no threat.
Onwards and upwards.

Not that much, it's almost entirely on Yiadom there. Shame as he was otherwise very good.

Coming back on the bus:

First hour we were great, played it perfectly. Their goal, which was obviously dire from Mannone have them a whole load of confidence and they passed it better from there

Their winner a real kick in the teeth but against thought Mannone to blame

Atmosphere was very good and we look a lot fitter and more disciplined. Other than on the break still look a lacking in creating changes

McShane is a disaster unfortunately, a mistake waiting to happen. Need a new CB immediately. Richards was a bit weak I thought and they seemed to target him and McShane in the 2nd half

Thought Kelly, Yiadom, Meyler, Aluko and Barrow weee good. Ilori outstanding and mom. McShane and Mannone both poor

Anyway some positives but need to get a win in the next couple of games or the morale could go right down again

Last Year, deficient at the back and toothless at the front. Today, after good work by many players, as a team we were toothless at the front and then deficient at the back. We could have been 3-0 up by half-time and were'nt but then we scored, only to allow our frailties to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I'm impressed that the Manager contrived to make it such a close game but, until we have a sensible defence and a goalscorer we are just going to mirror last season no matter how well other players play!

Mmm. Better than just about any game you care to mention from last season. Can now see why Walker was bought. Yiadom and Richards looked good, as did Ilori surprisingly. Seem to remember we lost our opener at home 1-2 at the start of 2005/06 season! Just saying!

No way Derby deserved 3 points.

I’m probably being overly harsh, but I still feel he could have saved it. If he hadn’t moved two steps to his near post as the cross comes in, he is in a position to save it. However, it is probably more to do with the awful goal he gave away and I’m really annoyed with him!
