John Smith Old Man Andrews, in a hypothetical world, would you have Deniss Rakels back? Would you start him in the current team?

Absolutely not. He just was not the required level IMO, injury prone too. He had a great moment away at Charlton a couple of seasons ago but other than that did very little.

Old Man Andrews and John Smith,

If you had to choose any 3 players to have back from the past few season whom are still playing, who would it be and why?

Williams - because I thought he was our best player at the time and we are visibly missing him ever since he left
McCarthy - purely because our goalkeeping situation is dreadful and he is better than both

we really need a striker, so on that basis I guess...no, no I can't choose a third.

Williams - miss him way more than I thought

Vydra - upgrade on what we currently have

Nathan Ake - going to have a very good career

Agreed.

Baffled at how poor vydra and grabban were for us.

Grabban was played (mainly) out of position....and has proven to be our missed opportunity.

Nicky Shoreys’ managerial career (abley assisted by ‘Blakey’) gets off to a winning start as Wingate & Finchley beat Leatherhead 1-0 in the Bostik Premier League as Curo took on the caretaker-managers role for Bishops Stortfords 1-1 draw against Merstham in the same league.

Ah yes how could I forget Ake. What a player - probably the best of the lot.

File this under players you forgot that were at Reading.

Found an article about Lille fc and their title winning 2010-11 team. Surprised to see Cedric Beseyas name on there, who moved to us not long after, after 6 weeks went to Barnet on loan and then was released.

Also.... Oliver Bozanic is doing very well at Hearts this year.

Does anyone know what Bas Savage is up to these days? He was playing out in Thailand a few years back but seems to have dropped off the radar after TOT SC ceased to exist.

Full name: Basir Mohammed Savage, born in London on January 7, 1982. He retired in 2016 and played as a striker (or wing, if necessary).

Probably a bricklayer now

It's surprising how quickly they adapted their game and fitted in with the performance levels of the rest of squad.

He was a fcuking terrible player.

Greedy and a shit attitude. 20 clubs in 17 years and never commanded a transfer fee.

This made me laugh.

On 3 January 2008, Leeds United manager Dennis Wise confirmed that Morgan was one of his transfer targets in the transfer window, but Morgan remained at Luton as Leeds would not meet his wage demands, despite Luton being willing to release him on a free transfer.

Slightly tangential but I believe Brian McDermott spoke recently at an event by Berkshire based 'Sports Injury and Performance Centre' GoPerform, where the below image was used to answer the question "what were the key ingredients to the success of the 2011/12 RFC team?"

Interesting that Jay Tabb (WRTOP playing rugby for South-west London based Old Wimbledonians) is featured as the heart of the "team before individual" ethos despite only featuring in 19 (10+9) league games.

Looking at the other 17 factors associated, I would argue we only really have 'Talent', and under Clement a shred of 'Honesty', while our 'Luck' has been broadly even this season. The other 13 (+ 'Big Bad Wolf' which isn't applicable) are all sadly seemingly missing.

Jay Tabb was a quality player. Very under rated.

Bizarrely enough he plays quite high level rugby now....

Tabby was one of the few players that put a credible shift in during our last foray into the Premiership...however, he still got dropped...then despatched.

Decent fellah too
