Hound Wouldn’t be massively suprised to see him back at Reading as CEO one day. Owners obvs like him and maybe Roselare is experience for Gourlay’s replacement when the time comes

Owners obviously want him to see out his contract and then say goodbye more like it. Nice guy or not, he’s been no masterstroke as a DOF here.

He and Gourlay are both on permanent contracts now. So, unlikely.

This is why I just eye roll at every single change at the club. As ultimately 6-12 months later it falls flat and everyone says "glad he's gone"

It was only about a year ago half of you lot were right up BT's rectum. I've seen pics on Instagram of people with pictures alongside him and tweets saying how good hes doing.

Now people are saying "glad he's gone ... I've heard he was a bellend"

So for me, this is all just meaningless sh*te and I fully
Expect to see this new guy to leave in 12 months when we are in league one and half of you lot assigning blame on his signings in January and the summer of 2019.

Zip It would seem that Watts is a lot closer to all of this than Jonathan Low even though he stopped reporting on Reading a good while ago.

Probably because, despite what the article says at the end, Tevreden is his source.

Yeah clearly his mate and always was - hence the good scoops he used to get. Maybe something to do with being an arsenal fan

Expect the stuff Watts has reported is as good as being straight out of BT’s mouth

Watts wouldn't lie about things like that, has no reason to. If we had him around we would have seen this coming months ago.

No doubt about it. Watts article is very pro BT and anti RG as well. I bet Low is a bit peeved.

If Low did a better job he wouldn't be peeved. Nice guy but he's not a football journo, too nice and too weak.

more from Watts:

Attendances down, commercial director gone and not replaced, marketing department about to disappear, long-serving academy manager gone, youth coaches leaving, scouting and recruitment team all but non-existent now. #ReadingFC chief executive doing a sterling job........

Was vaguely aware of some of the youth coaches moving on.

Still we're chock a block of mediocre players on bumper contracts, so not all bad

Does anyone else find it funny that Charles Watts is our best reporter and he isn't even our reporter

It is sad and hilarious in equal measures. Best bit is he doesn't give the scoop to his mate Jonathan but chooses to rise like a phoenix and deliver Reading FC news himself. I love that.

Low can hardly write in the same tone as Charles Watts about RG. He has a job to do and is in and out of the club 2 or 3 times a week with certain relationships to maintain. Whereas Charles Watts has free licence hence why BT has been quoted by CW and not JLow.

Why can he not write in the same tone? Charles Watts would write reasonably provocatively when he reported on Reading so what is stopping Jonathan Low? How has he not tapped in to Watts' relationship with Tevreden? It is baffling. Not sure making excuses for his lack of journalistic nous is intelligent.

BT would have chosen to use the Charles Watts route knowing that JLow would be restricted due to his current relationship with the club. Low wouldn’t have been so pointed as Charles for fear off being exiled by RG and BT knows this. What bit don’t you get?

So you are saying that at no point Low couldn't have used his brain and worked around that? You're suggesting there was no way he could use Watts as a club insider and present the stories in such a way to not leave himself in the shit? Jonathan Low isn't good enough at his job is he? What bit don't you get?

Reading fans: "Our recruitment has been terrible for two years now"

*man in charge of recruitment for two years is replaced*

Reading fans: "Everything's rotten, the club is falling apart, panic! panic!"

I get that JLow is not a patch on Charles Watts as a reporter. But in this instance JLow couldn’t have quoted BT in the same way Charles did and therefore BT (rightly) used Charles to get his story/feelings across. JLow would have been given the club spin on BT’s new move and Nani coming in to publish. It’s fairly straightforward politics.

There's a difference between writing provocatively, and writing in a way which would probably see you lose your job and alienate the people you're depending on.

Would you go up to your company's boss and say "You're driving this business into the ground. Dave from IT left because you're an idiot, the canteen lady hates you, and you've ruined the entire company"?

You wouldn't write it like that though would you? Jonathan Low is a professional journalist allegedly, how does he not have it in him to get information and present it in a way which is both truthful and informative? Are you telling me there is no way he could have used Watts to find out more about the Tevreden saga and present it in a way that won't get him into any bother?

He didn’t need to BT used Charles Watts for all the reasons already explained. And why would he attempt to write a piece that he’d need to water down? Best leave it out there as reported by CW.
