Zip EverHopeful tee peg How far is your tongue in your cheek...........
Must have a really big cheek, i reckon. Gunts was fine today and then you critique his failures........he wasn't fine he was merely adequate and slows down any attacking impetus we ever generate and thats pretty rare. not sure we have many others options until players are off the ever expanding injury list but nobody should be satisfied with his performance - his has been indoctrinated by the Stam style and with now young and quick players coming into the team (thanks god), needs to go as soon as possible
I critiqued his failures going forward. Apart from being caught upfield once in the first half he was fine defensively. He is first and foremost a defender.
Who was nowhere near his man (ince) when he scored.
I wonder what Clement's instructions were.
Last Tuesday Leeds exposed our left flank so what did Stoke do right from the off?
Swift was wandering all over the place-there is now way that he was told to stay on the left.
Interestingly somebody pointed out on the radio in the Saints game that it is easy for a team to go hell for leather when they are losing (Man Utd 2 goals down) as, logically, they have nothing to lose.
A braver side does so before going behind-we are one of those sides IMHO-we did the same v Ipswich as we did yesterday by going 4-2-4 with two wingers and 2 central strikers.
Unfortunately we don't have Sidwell and Harper so we always seem to have to go with at least 3 in midfield.
It could be that Clement will see that we don't have the defensive players to keep many sides out so will go with how we finished the game and just hope that we score more than the opposition.
That is possibly the way that we might win games-draws and defeats will see us relegated.
BTW, Dellor said that Stoke should have had a free-kick in the lead up to our equaliser so the ref wasn't all bad.
We aren't half a weak side though-this wasn't the very physical Stoke of old and yet our playerswon so few of the 50/50 challenges and spent far too much time on the deck protesting rather than getting on with the game.
