Now now, no need for names...

Royal Rother Most of us would be happy to see Parkinson here but his Championship win ratio is just 19%, so although he kept Bolton up against the odds last season I’d be surprised if that record is really good enough to satisfy those who are quick to dismiss Sherwood.

22 wins from 116 games across 4 seasons at Hull, Charlton and Bolton. That really does not inspire confidence.

Not my first choice, but he's got vastly more managerial experience for a start.

Just looking deeper and (regardless of when he arrived / departed) in the 4 seasons Parkinson has managed in the Championship his teams have finished 23rd, 24th, 21st and currently 23rd.

And people think Sherwood would be a gamble....

Why are you assuming we'd be happy with either? Both would be shit but Parkinson is just very slightly better. The vast majority want neither man anywhere near the club.

I wouldn’t be happy to have Parky here. He’s not exactly got a glowing record and given the nature of the business he is bound to fail and taint his reputation, at some point.

Sherwood would be a gamble. For reasons I've outlined earlier.

Expecting any new manager to become a Messiah and transform the team overnight is a huge ask.

Am I missing something? Surely absolutely every appointment is a gamble of some description. You’re investing heavily in an uncertain outcome.

I think Paul Clement is sleeping in the bush following his dismissal.

Denver Royal Big Sam=avail, he’d get slackers, attitudes, egos, fitness, etc, addressed in short order. A pipe dream for sure, and I'm not his #1 fan, but if staying up is #1 priority, I’d back him (or Steve Bruce) to do it. No club connection, wouldn’t be fan fav’s. Thought that might be a consideration, but doesn’t appear to be anyway, given Portuguese rumors/approaches.

yeah because we'd defo be able to attract a manager like him...........
Have a f*cking day off would you? You are living in fantasy land.

Nice. Me take a day off? Yeah, says the bloke approaching six thousand posts in just over a year. How many posts have you made just in this thread alone?
(And oh, that's why I made it very clear Sam was a pipe dream for sure. Which of coarse, you chose to ignore).

Old Man Andrews How has Tim Sherwood done at Championship level?

He's never been in the Champ.
Just admit you were wrong and offer an apology. No need for name calling.

He wasn't the manager. Manager and DOF are very different roles

You believe Tim Sherwood didn't have overall say in affairs at Swindon Town? You actually think that?

Hello strawman argument!

No point even entertaining the Sherwood argument but for what it's worth he was so involved he actually came down into the dugout during one of the games in his tenure at Swindon to bark orders and change tactics!

The bloke is a clown. Premier League winner though

"He's never been in the Champ" is the exact answer I wanted and the exact point I was making.

So we don't really know how he'd do in the Champ then, as opposed to Parky where we have more to go on.
That said, Sherwood wouldn't be my choice. He rubs people the wrong way. (He was a right twat as a player). Shame, because I think he does know a thing or two, but man-management skills are important in footy management, and likely to be esp so with our lot.
(Btw, I rarely take a day off from fecking  )

What exactly is this bollix about never having managed in the Championship (about anybody)?

Every single manager IN HISTORY who has eventually managed in
the Championship , on arrival "had never managed in The Championship".

EVERY
SINGLE
ONE

Plus, a good manager should be able to work out what is required:

Toughness, strength, durability, resilience, the willingness to fight, and, after that, some skill

Yes but not every one of those has been successful. We don’t have time to try another inexperienced manager.

If Jokanovic isn't an option, I could come round to the idea of Parky

tbh, thought Bolton were pretty good when they came to the Madejski earlier in the year. Everything that we weren't in terms of fitness and organisation

Record is far from brilliant, but he is basically managing a div 1 team
