BFTT Man Utd

by Westwood52 » 05 Jan 2019 15:20

That was OK wasn't it.
At times we were playing quite free flowing football; bit unlucky with the 1st goal-despite VAR, I thought Lukaku was off side and active (made a move towards the ball).
Albeit Man Utd never got out of second gear; because they didn't have to.

IMHO:
Jakkola 7: Couple of good saves; couple of kicking misjudgements; but did OK-back as number 1 goalie.
Yiadom 6: Still a bit agricultural-but fitted in well at CB.I think he had three attempts on goal-one very good. But Lukaku, did pick his pocket 2nd half.
Richards7: Apart from the penalty, looked very comfortable-very good going forward (but we know that is his strong suit).
Moore 7: Probably MOM. Couple of very good defensive moves; without ever as captain being able to drive us on.
Ilori 6: Was OK-so different to last week-how is he so inconsistent ?
Kelly 7: Very comfortable; a few misplaced passes-but because Man U never pressed him, was in almost complete control.
SWift 4: Some stunning play, mixed with the abysmal-particularly on their 2nd goal. Needs to concentrate more and get fitter and sharper.
Rino 6 : Didn't let himself down, and his physical edge in both positions; kept him to his usual high standard of play.
Macca 2 : Offered little.
Loader 4 : Too much to ask, for him to lead the line-but some nice touches.
Harriot 5 : Dangerous but looks a bit limited, compared to the (potential) of Barrow and Alukho.

Subs:

Alukho: Generally, looked decent.
Meite: Same old, same old.
Barrow: Still short of a gallop.

Bit difficult to believe, with the manner of the football we are capable of playing; that we are worse than Hull, Preston, Rotherham, Milwall etc. However games in the Championship , are a lot more physical, and the ability to play nice, pretty football; without a bit of steel and nous; means naught.

Little point in scoring players when against world class individuals.

Agree with fact that United rarely got in gear. Though when it mattered had the edge. Harriott was like having a new player.

Let's hope that this is the basis for next week's starting line-up. Finally a team with plenty of character and spirit.
