Wigan and Ipswich losing, not too much damage yet.

2 week break now on us - let's hope there's a couple less injured rather than a couple more injured at the end of it.

Jose sets a 10 point target from the remaining 9 games. So only a better ppg rate needed than Reading have had all season and all the from the supposed hardest run in of the bottom 6 clubs needed then - do you see the problem there?

Next round of games :

Saturday 30th March

Derby County v Rotherham United
Ipswich Town v Hull City
Leeds United v Millwall
Queens Park Rangers v Bolton Wanderers
Reading v Preston North End
Wigan Athletic v Brentford

It is indeed a larger PPG than we have acheived this season but in comparison to the last 12 games it is a decline - 1.41 to 1.11

Yeah depending on where you draw the lines he's had a run of 5/6 games up about the 1.7 or more mark.

Could a manager realistically set a target of a point a game or less to try to make safety?

I doubt McClaren is saying to anyone he's set a target of 3 points from 8 games, which is realistically all QPR need.

Fingers crossed for them. I hope a saviour swoops in. Theyre paying for years of betting the farm on never being relegated from the PL. And those mistakes are footballing ancient history now.

A lot of Reading fans wanted us to spend like them under Madejski.

Id probably chip in to a rescue fund but their issues seem too big and their owner too dodgy.

Does he own the stadium land? How protected is it?

oxf*rd them. Part of a football is the business off the field and they have been grossly negligent in how they've gone about that business and deserve to fold! Don't be fooled and go wasting your money! They must be punished and consigned to the obscurities of the amateur leagues like Darlington

If they go, they go - would feel sorry for the fans but that club is in a massive mess and if it were any other kind of business would have already gone to the wall.

In a pure footballing sense, if Bolton were to get past us under any circumstances now, we are done.

Did you bother asking anyone from Bolton or perhaps Phil Parkinson before offering this pearl of wisdom?

Bolton will be reprieved/saved at the last minute.

But if it did happen and they were expunged then Reading, Rotherham, Millwall and Ipswich would all have a point taken away so no change there really.

Wigan are the losers though, they would lose 4 points and 3 off of their goal difference which would leave them 22nd in the table on 35 points, 2 points behind Reading and 1 point behind saftey.

Posted the table on another thread if Bolton go (they won't) but see below:

17. Swansea P36 41pts GD -4
18. QPR P37 41pts GD -13
19. Millwall P35 36pts GD -13
20. Reading P36 36pts GD -15
21. Wigan P36 35pts GD -19
=============================
22. Rotherham P36 35pts GD-20
23. Ipswich P37 23pts GD -32

And if they do stay up then it makes that utterly atrocious result up there all the more damning. What the hell were we doing giving Jack Hobbs a free header in the 93rd minute?! Bolton!

Making something of the fight at least but these last 7 games are as tough as you could reasonably expect

Probably accept 1 point and a barely altered goal difference from the next 2 games as being a success. Then Brentford has to be another must win game.

So the next three games for the teams battling to avoid the drop are

Saturday 6 April

Norwich City v Queens Park Rangers (12.30pm)
Birmingham City v Leeds United
Bolton Wanderers v Ipswich Town
Bristol City v Wigan Athletic
Hull City v Reading
Rotherham United v Nottingham Forest

Tuesday 9 April

Bolton Wanderers v Middlesbrough

Wednesday 10 April

Birmingham City v Sheffield United
Brentford v Ipswich Town
Hull City v Wigan Athletic
Millwall v Queens Park Rangers
Norwich City v Reading (red button)
Rotherham United v Aston Villa

Saturday 13 April

Derby County v Bolton Wanderers
Ipswich Town v Birmingham City
Queens Park Rangers v Swansea City
Reading v Brentford
Sheffield United v Millwall
Stoke City v Rotherham United

I didnt like the look of those two home games for Rotherham, where we have two away games, but Derby did an almighty number on Rotherham yesterday and, in fairness, we've dome our part and got the points that we needed to do. Be mighty surprised if it isnt Championship football next year now.

We're increasingly looking safe to the point the goal will soon stop being about survival and become about finishing the season on a high for a change.

Of course, things can change rapidly still if we lose and Rotherham win...

Yes. Still need 2 wins and tough games to come. Sure the players won’t be getting complacent

In saying that Hull and Brentford are two big opportunities to seal safety
