Selles looks more like a super agent appointment than a Bowen appointment. Surely Noel Hunt would be a better option as it looks like we will be reliant on the U23s stepping up. To me Selles is just another ridiculous and pointless appointment.

It looks like Bowen has either been silenced or left. Otherwise the silence from him is very odd.

The owner either has no money or has decided not to waste any more on the club.

Hard to be positive.

Appointing someone who has already shown he isn’t yet up to the job over someone who almost certainly isn't up to the job is not a better decision. It would just be a different bad choice.

I thought we played much better football under Hunt apart from the last game - but he was appointed far too late to have a chance of saving us. Obviously I would have preferred say the experience of Wilder. But given there is no money I would much prefer Hunt to Selles.

Selles was a staunch anti-vaxer.

He didn't win a single game. He made some really poor decisions.

We were a bit more energetic, but really not significantly better. Hunt would be a terrible appointment. He's got less experience than Selles.

I'm happy with the appointment, although possibly more so out of gratitude than anything else. I'm surprised he still wants to come here with the mess we're in.

The guy hasn't technically been appointed yet. If when he is there is absolute silence from Bowen on the subject then I'll begin to buy in to the view that he had nothing to do with this and has either left or is essentially just collecting a pay cheque whilst he watches Rome burn.

The complete absence of a 'new manager bounce' with Hunt was rather telling.

Selles tho'?

Oof.

Definitely not Hunt. The last 5 games probably wasn't all his fault in fairness but we didn't really change all that much, although can be forgiven for saying the rot had already set in by that point. Having said that, I didn't see anything in Hunt's spell to suggest the job was for him.

I think most will naturally be disappointed by the drop off from Wilder, but Selles seems to have a decent coaching pedigree. If we can get the best out of him on that side and relinquish the recruitment side to the people who are in the job then it might be ok, but we've got a lot to sort out off the field first.

Hunt to me seems to be a perfect u23 coach. Passionate, knows the club, really wants the academy to work. Keep him doing what he’s good at

Really do want some proper comms about the appointment. As said, if he’s Bowen’s choice then I’m fine with it

For those who just see him through the lens of the failed job at Soton, this is worth at least a skim read

The only thing with Hunt's little spell, it would have been interesting* to see what would have happened had we not gone down to 10 men v Luton - if we had won that game, the last 3 games may well have been different.

But it did and they weren't so, yeah.

I think it is a little harsh to judge him on his Southampton run, they were dead in the water when he took over. I saw them a couple of times under him, most notably when they played Arsenal away and I was relatively impressed, he seemed to get them to put in the effort and keep their shape well.

I am quite open minded on his appointment, yes there were better candidates but there were also a hell of a lot worse out there that we could have ended up with. Time will tell.

Might have to read between the lines as I imagine Bowen is going to back the manager and isn't going to undermine him by saying he wasn't his choice

Similarly, in time Noel Hunt may return to managing and it would be harsh if he was judged just on the results of his caretaker spell at Reading without taking into consideration what came before/what he inherited.

Typical reaction let’s at least give the the fella a chance? After we play Peterborough invade the pitch and demand his resignation.

We're an absolute state, so it's just apathy from me.

Could we have done better in the circumstances... possibly.

Most our appointments are shit anyway though. And we're reaching the point where there's sod all to work with.

Holmes, McIntyre, Sarr, Mbengue, NGW, Yiadom, Abrefa looked a very strong back line for L1.

Holmes, Yiadom, NGW, Abrefa, and maybe Mbengue and McIntyre less so. Especially when we still don't have a single senior specialist midfielder at the club.

You want to wait until after the match? That's a bit long to wait. We should invade the pitch If we aren't 3 up inside the first 10 minutes.
