Exactly. Not many managers would react in the way he did when asked about the disallowed goal.

Right. He seems an intelligent, level-headed guy who doesn't rant and rave. Perhaps in the mould of Coppell.

It's the way to be, Southgate's gone up loads in my estimation after yesterday.

Apparently when Ozzy Osbourne was touring the States, he was routinely trashing a hotel room. The police were called and the only way they could restrain him was to pin him down on the ground with a gun to his head, whereupon Ozzy said "Go on, shoot - I'd die for Aston Villa!".

Yep, I've always had a lot of respect for him, one of the more intelligent players the game has seen.

If you get a chance read "Woody and Nord: A Football Friendship"
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0141012145/ref=olp_product_details/202-4864114-1665415?ie=UTF8

The story of him and his best mate (from Coppell's Palace days) - one made it to play for England, and the other rattled around the lower leagues with hardly any success. A great read, and shows what football is really like from the players' point of view better than any ghost-written autobiography ever will. Defintely highly recommended.

I checked out that Amazon link to Southgate's book. Its original selling price was £7.99, but now it's £113.93.

It will be snapped up!!
