Rosenior: I'm as good as Micah Richards

by Top Flight » 18 Sep 2007 18:38

Liam Rosenior says he had to leave Fulham in order to boost his prospects of being England's future right-back.

The defender traded Fulham for Reading prior to the close of the transfer window as part of a swap deal involving Seol Ki-hyeon.

Rosenior believes the style of football being played under Lawrie Sanchez at Craven Cottage would not have helped his chances of breaking into the England setup.

And, after seeing Micah Richards impress in the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia, Rosenior insists he can perform just as good a job as the Manchester City teenager.

Dream world

"I want to be England's next right-back," said Rosenior in the Daily Mirror.

"Micah Richards is doing a great job, but I honestly feel I am as good as him and within the right environment could prove to be even better.

"People may say that's arrogant and that I am living in a dream world, but I honestly believe that.

"But in order to show it I need to be playing in a certain way, and that wasn't how Lawrie wanted to play."

Rosenior is expected to make his Reading debut on Saturday when his new club visit promoted Sunderland.

I am really liking his attitude............

I hope he is right and I hope he can be the next England Right Back.

Why not? We have the next England Left Back in our ranks. There is no reason that Rosenior can't make it into the England side playing within the Reading style. If he can be developed into a similar talent as Shorey then we will be flying.

We just need a good central midfielder......

I am banking on Fae to adapt quickly and produce the goods for us in the middle.

Ambition and drive, bit of arrogance is essential in my eyes and it's good to hear.

I'd rather have Micah Richards though!! 8)

I think Liam Rosenier is a future captain of Reading - I've been very impressed with him so far

If Rosenior can do on the right side of the pitch what Shorey does so brilliantly on the left then it will give us such a great balance and threat from either side of the pitch. I think Rosenior is a different type of player though.

I am looking forward to seeing his development in the right back slot.

Assuming he is played right back Top Flight....which I hope he is.
Looking forward to see make make his home bow on Saturday (if selected) but will he be in the side instead of Murty? Or playing right midfield.

Is Oster ready to return yet? He can't be far off now... Wasn't he close for the Sunderland game?

I would have Oster at Right Wing as he is a specialist in that position.

If Murty and Oster are fit then I don't think Rosenior will be in the first 11 on Saturday.

I could not envisage Oster starting...place on the bench I would have thought. I reckon Rosenoir will start on Saturday possibly right midfield as I expect SC to keep faith in Murty.

Funny how, what with Seol gone and Little seemingly never going to be fit again, Oster - who barely got half a game in the championship - is the player we're pinning some mighty big hopes on.

I'm not an Oster fan-cue Archie's Volley with a post saying he should be given his chance.
Oster has rarely started more than a couple of successive games so his backers do have a point. The trouble is SC clearly does not fancy him(in the footballing sense) and that does not give you much confidence in him. Give him a run of four or five games perhaps and if he comes off all well and good but I personally dont think he will produce the goods.
I would be surprised if he started on Saturday as he is not match fit.

Surely Coppell wouldn't have sold Seol knowing how crocked Little was if he didn't have faith in Oster.

UMM.........He has always kept Oster on the bench before and of the three the pecking order when fit would have been Little, Seol and then Oster. I am not convinced Rosenior will be Murty's replacement and may be used right midfield so Oster may still struggle to get in the side.

What? One thoroughly average performance at Sunderland and plenty of talk (a bit too much for my liking)? Some people are easily pleased.

FFS

When will these players learn.

Let your football do the talking.

I don't doubt his talent and think he'll force Murty out within a few months at right back but at least do that and put in some top performances before spouting off with comments like that.

Can Murty play right midfield?? Would it mot be beter if Liam and Mutry changed places? Liam could at least be quick enough to track back. Ok maybe sacfricing the going forward option but mabe a less evil.

I have mentioned a couple times before but nobody seems to consider it - why not change the formation. If we are struggling to win the midfield battle then would it not be prudent put to go 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1 ??

It could give our team more time to find it's feet. Allow injured players to get up to speed and reduced the goals we are conceding.

On the bright side - it will keep Murty on his toes.

May have a resurgence from old twinkle toes yet ;0)

It seems Seol was sold regardless of our options on the right wing, which points to him unsettling the team. Shame we didn't get a replacement in though

So again why the hell did we swap this guy for Seol? He clearly doesn't think he's a winger. Think what you want if Oster couldn't even get picked in front of Seol even after Coppell now admits he'd fallen out with Seol, Coppell doesn't rate Oster.

Rosenior has clearly been very well skilled in talking to the press by his Father, coming out with BS like how he likes staying in playing scarble and drinking coco . Players who talk themselves up in this way always end up getting shot down.
