Are we going to do a Southampton?

by Man Friday » 28 Nov 2009 18:51

i.e. be told we're too good to go down, play some great football occasionally, beat the top teams (like Blackpool) as though we're up there with them, but ultimately lose a hell of a lot of games and go down...

No, providing you stick with Rodgers I'm sure you'll be back in the top flight within three to four years.

No, we're not big enough/have enough history to have our relegation be considered on the same kind of scale. We're not too big to go down at all.

However, I don't think we will. I have faith in Rodgers to keep us up with the squad we've got.

What do you mean....

Approach Pardew as the new manager and get Murty and Harding in as full-backs...

Hey, that's not a bad shout young man

We are absolutely doing a southmapton, 100%. The people who voted no lack knowledge.

Youth players, ridding most of your first team squad and replacing with journeymen, plus 20th in the league is EXACTLY what saints did last season.

No, Saints went into administration having failed to balance the books quick enough having spent thirty years in top flight football we spent two.

You are saying the way not to go bust like Southampton is to spend more money that we haven't got. Isn't there something wrong with your argument there?

Yep, and what is amazing is that Madejski, his sidekicks and loyal subjects have spent seasons telling us what a wonderfully run club we are, yet suddenly we are sliding through the league like The Saints and with no money to spend to put things right.

It's becoming clear that whilst he was stood there pontificating, the Emperor was displaying his crown jewels to all and sundry.

We are a well run club - show me a rival club that is spending money that is equally well run? Most of the teams that are spending are the ones running up debts.

No club is too big to go down. Especially not Southampton.

We are not "too good" to go down. Any team getting relegated gets relegated because they are not good enough. Does anyone have any reason why the club would go into administration because I don't!

This season smells too much like TB1. Our inability to hold onto a lead smells like TB2. Portakabin aside, the worst managers Reading have had in my time.

We won't go in to administration and have points deducted. However, I do think we will go down. We play decent football at times but still can't win much and lose leads too often.
