As a slight aside, Dirk Gently must be rubbing his hands with glee at the prospect of all the media interviews heading his way over the next few days.

Thames Just give the job to someone on a short term contract who can keep us in this league.

Rodgers is a sh1te manager but Madejski is the real problem.

4 pages in and no mention of Hammond. He's to blame......Hammond out.

Alan Partridge but for me Ferguson is the stand out man.

Especially if he brings McLean / Mackail-Smith / Boyd with him....

Bit shocked, bit saddened but can understand the decision. Best wishes to a decent bloke.

Have got a nasty feeling we'll see a BR team play us off the park someday.

FiNeRaIn I'll write my full review later but in a nutshell im quite sad. Yes he did poorly, but its never nice to see someone with affection for the club and the area leave after a stint like that. All I can ask in the mean time is that people don't throw the childish insults around, accept that he gave 100% ( which I believe he did) for the club but simply came up short and wish him well.
I think a lot of what he did was mis-read and some was naivety from a young manager. Please remain respectful even though his time here was a failure.

Agreed 100%. It's a sad day for the club. I'm sure he'll come back a better, and wiser, manager for the experience.

Maguire Perhaps there's more to it, who knows.

perhaps it really was mutual and he wasn't enjoying it any more.

Does seem odd though, as we did seem to have turned the corner to a degree after he stopped trying to play 4-3-3

Yeah I agree - something liek W3 D2 L2 in the last 7?

Would Steve Coppell return, even for just the rest of the season.

Our most successful Manager ever may return re-motivated and motivate the players.

There is very little wrong in the playing side that could not be developed into a winning team .

Whoever comes in now deserves our unqualified support until the end of the season, this might galvanise the fans although I should imagine the players will be even more shambolic than ever at Bristol on Saturday - get behind them.

Unless you don't like them of course, in which case i'll give it two defeats before you're singing karaoke songs about wanting them sacked.

The corner wasn't really turned though was it? We were still failing to put away chances and leaking like a sieve at the back. We were still failing to pick up points we really should have done. He had a good couple of weeks with some wins and a draw. Then things started to return to previous form again.

My preferences would be along the lines of Curbishley or Ferguson. Fergie Jnr isn't very experienced at this level, but he's a hell of a lot more experienced than BR was and will have more to work with here than at P'boro.

Don't really know much about the others mentioned.

Just logged in and got the text from Benreading.

About time too. This club needs focus and not be pulled down into the mire more than it already has. I can understand where he was taking the club (long term) but could the club afford the gamble of results coming good in the remaining half of the season. Clearly not.

Super Kevin Bremner!
RobRoyal
loyalroyal4life why give the job to a unproven champ manager in ferguson?

Agreed. We can't gamble again. Even someone boring as hell like Hart or Curbishley will do.

This is a big risk. I feel we would have avoided relegation with him, albeit not by much. Now it could go either way; significant improvement or a collapse that we can't recover from.

One positive is that JM has to back the new man with cash in Jan. He probably wouldn't have fancied letting BR have any more money.

Yeah Rasiak, Howard and McAnuff were awful signings weren't they.

Did I say they were? Would you feel so confident about Rodgers' ability to go out and buy the right player if it had been your £2m blown on Mills? I'm not so much making a judgement on Rodgers' ability as guessing what Madejski felt.

Sadly for him though with the fixs coming up, Palace at home was an important game and Reading were awful and Scunny was must win and they didn't. Of course they deserved to beat a side who played 9 in defense but thy didn't show the toughness or quality to do it. Sadly these days the manager carries the can. I think Rodgers has been poor, I agree he's had a crap hand but so has people like Holloway at Blackpool. He's had less resource and a poorer starting block, and has got them playing. Soemtimes people can come in suit a club and galvanise it. Rodgers had loads of hot air but was trying to play the Chelsea way but with a crap defense and a no centre forward.

Will be interesting to see how the team plays on Saturday - and more particularly, under a new manager. If some of the players weren't happy with the tactics, team selections etc, we might see a vast improvement in their quality of play and willingness to win now.
